The easiest answer is that he doesn't. He doesn't trust anyone. But is that really true? Words can be confusing, the cultural context and translation are confusing, hidden meanings behind them, but the actions never lie. In actions, he effectively (probably) trusts Ari and Klaus, and A LITTLE Valdis, or he wouldn't have asked her to come with them. Nor let her carry him through the halls without a better fight.
