He's updating his list of who is staying in what cabin and updating the maps he's drawn up. he also might have profiles on a few of the passengers. He looks up as Ava approaches and finds himself grateful that there isn't a name written on the cake.

He glances back at the cake. There'd be little other reason to bring him a cake with 'Happy Birthday' on it. Instead of voice his sarcasm though he just shrugs.

"I guess so. They put streamers in my cabin, too. Which is weird because I think Malcom-san or I would have heard someone come in last night."
