Maeve looks at her quietly. "Ruby is capable, yes. I think it's natural for us to want to protect those we know from fighting, but I do not think it will technically do anything outside of cause resentment if we stop her. But we can find a way to try to let her know that if she doesn't want to fight, she isn't required to, I believe."

There's a quiet moment before she says, "I've seen what happens when someone tries to force someone to change. Dolores changed Teddy to make him stronger, better able to survive and you could see it caused him severe discomfort." A beat. "I know it's a different scenario. But I want to...give her agency and still let her know she doesn't have to be the same girl she was before. Even if a part of me wishes she'd stay somewhere safe till it's over." A long sigh. "Even if nowhere on this ship is technically safe from everything or everyone."
