There's no responding commentary on Valdis' first point, but Clarke thinks briefly of the books on the Ark — relics of the old Earth, prized possessions of their community, untouchable and housed behind glass — and then of her mother and the role Abby Griffin had played in seeing her thrown into solitary confinement for a year, then tossed down to Earth's surface on a the basis of wishful thinking.

Then, back to Disneyland. "Hm. Sharky brought it up recently, he thought I'd like it." Which is ridiculous because she's not a child, yet tugs on heartstrings because at the same time she'd like to know what exactly it is the man and now Valdis are recalling so fondly. Mournfully. The dip in the woman's tone is noticed but will not be commented on. "Guess the upcoming carnival will be as close as we ever get to it, though."

Prince Ali starts up as a musical number, and Clarke pulls herself out of the rift of homesickness over a way of life she never knew.

"Oh, the Genie looks human now."

Genuflect, show some respect. Down on one knee. Valids had mentioned what happened to Yato as a deterrent to her willingness to fight against the Captain last they'd talked. Clarke had been given the play-by-play of the trial from Natsuno. This isn't a big moment, but as those lyrics are sung she again looks sidelong at her unwilling coffee date.
