While in the present, Wayne might be fascinated to hear about César's espionage accomplishments, this particular Wayne is having a very bad day and a very bad week and wants to go hit something. Which ends up exploding rather spectacularly thanks to a well-placed axe blow, so now César will have that mental image as well as the Gesture that defies any logic that he might try to apply to it.
At least until he's dumped back into the buffet at the same time that Wayne is quite peacefully gathering up the chunks of oddly bloodless meat off the ground.
If he ends up noticing the Wayne that's actually at the buffet, César might be able to tell that he looks like he's doing well for himself, even if he's giving that memory crack a wide berth. He's got on a pretty snazzy leather jacket too, unlike his jumpsuited counterpart.
