we must be patient [August OTA]

Who: Cassandra de Rolo, OTA
When: Late July (immediately post-excursion), all August
Where: Around the Serena Eterna
What: Checking in, checking up, checking out
Warnings: Game-typical angst

A: the last time this happened I became who I am

When the dying is done, when the images of the other ship sinking and the hideous wailing music have stopped playing from every screen on board, when the corpses stop appearing at random around the decks, Cassandra goes back to her cabin and tries once more to sleep.

She wanders the emptier-than-usual ship for the next two days, feeling numb, feeling equally emptier than usual. There are brief interruptions in that blankness, but for the most part it's just waiting.

When it occurs to her – with a touch of shock that it hasn't occurred to her earlier – she goes looking for Dedue.

[Find Cass in any public part of the ship before the excursion-goers revive!]

B: we cannot risk the same happening again

On the third day she's awake and out of her cabin before sunrise, making for the room that Max shares with Security and has promised to let her into, to be there when it wakes.

She has so many other people to check in on that morning, by text, by knocking on their doors, by searching the ship for them. Phil, Okie, Dimitri, Crabb, Shiroe -- everyone she tried to talk out of going, to see if they're all right, to make sure they made it back. Maybe a few she didn't try to talk out of it as well. Helena. Grace.

And of course there are one or two she may be trying to avoid, for their sakes as well as her own.

[For those named above, or any I have forgotten!]

C: so we must be patient, despite provocation

No one answers a knock at Shiroe's door. Her text to him doesn't go through.

She tries several more times, and then makes her way down to the crew quarters, just to see what she can find there. If there's any way now to reach that room of hourglasses. She doesn't know what she'll do if there is.

Afterward, when there isn't, she heads for the memorial area near the sports deck with her sketchbook and pencils. And silently, grimly, begins to attempt to sketch his face from memory.

[Find Cass in the bowels of the ship, or by the memorial, for what will almost certainly not be a fun conversation.]

D: you'll go where you will and i'll ponder starvation

It's been some time since she got new packages from Sundries. She looks at the few wrapped packages blankly, trying futilely to guess what they might be. They're more or less of a size, easy to carry; one is very heavy, one has barely any weight to it at all, one is somewhere between.

Carrying all three of them together presents something of a problem, not of weight but of bulk. And she's not sure whether or not she can retrieve these from the Bag of Holding, as she doesn't actually know what they are.

[Give Cass a hand carrying the boxes? Or maybe suggest she open them for easier carrying.]

E: so patience, darling, patience

[Wildcard! Let me know if there's a particular prompt you would like me to write for you.]
