Unfortunately, Ginko is also in that direction, and Sharky's coming in from his blind spot. He starts to turn when he hears the 'growl', but it's already too late to duck out of the way. He does manage to drop his backpack, but that was less of something he planned to do and more something that just kind of happened in his sudden fumble to try and do something to stop what's about to happen.

But there's just no time. He does make an undignified yelping noise as Sharky bodily slams into him, though.
