JUNE EVENT: CAMP
early on June 10th, Friday's morning announcements end with a request for everyone going on the latest excursion to meet her in the atrium. she seems in noticeably better spirits than she had been last time, and she leads them cheerfully to the tender. once they are all aboard, and the door is securely shut, the interior fills with gas, and, perhaps, their last thought before they slip into unconsciousness is "oh shit, not again."
passengers wake up on a rickety old school bus, driving down a dirt road surrounded by woods. what is it that they notice first? that, no matter what they were wearing before, they are now wearing a camp t-shirt and legitimately horrifyingly short shorts? the overstuffed backpack between their knees? the words "take one down and pass it around" dying on their lips? the fact that Friday is absolutely driving the bus?
or, maybe the fact that it's already slowing down, pulling up in front of a massive wooden sign, saying:
when they get out of the bus, Friday is the one to divide them up into their cabin groups, and she is the one to give the counselors their very official-looking clipboards and whistles. she explains that they are in charge, and that she will be back to pick them up in a week, and... very little else. she responds to nothing outside of whatever is on her unseen little script, and she gets back on the bus shortly after, leaving them there.
welcome to camp. let's make some summer memories!

A new person walks in and she glances up from going through her bag to see if the least hideous Tommy Bahama dress made it to the trip. It did not. She's quiet as she waits for them to speak before being asked to introduce herself.
She's never done attendance before, never really knew you just called out names, but she watches everyone else and signals when her name is called.
"So does the clipboard tell you more than our names?"
no subject
"It doesn't tell me much, though. It's best I know who I'm sharing a room with, though. Besides the whole team aspect, I would really like this to turn out a lot better than our last trip off the boat..."
no subject
“I assume that’s the thing that’s making most of the people on edge? The killing and everything.” This was her first adventure off the boat, so she’s hoping to avoid more bloodshed.
“Well, what would you like to know? I’m a semi open book.”
no subject
Emphasis on the "hope" there. There's no telling, with how varied this group can be. And how volatile some of them are. Lumine's no stranger to letting her emotions getting the best of her, either…
"Semi open? Got the last few glued together, huh?" She laughs a bit. "I guess... you could start with your home world? Knowing where you come from might give some insight on you. If you're willing to share that much, I mean."
no subject
"Something like that, yes." She listens to the question. "I'm from Earth. Or at least a version of it. I worked in an amusement park...well, at least something similar to that. It's based off of the old west..." She pauses. "Or the American Frontier." She shrugs again. It's the continued half truth. "It wasn't the best of times, but it is what it is, I suppose."

however, the incredulous What coming from the young lady standing in the middle of the road is enough to bring him out of the ongoing stunned silence. if he helps her gain her bearings, then they may both feel better about what's happening. ]
Well... it would seem that one way or another, I suppose we are to be responsible for our groups...
no subject
Maybe she's just really on edge, though. ]
No, yes, I got that much! But…! [ She wildly gestures to the direction the bus drove off in. ] Are we really just supposed to accept this and move on??? And we're meant to be responsible for everyone? Really???
[ Words are hard. She just wants to throw rocks, actually. ]
iii.
Still, he offers his counselor (whatever that is) a faint smile and lifts his hand when she calls his name.]
Lumine, isn’t it?
no subject
That's me. You were at the, er, passenger meeting I set up. [ She recalls some of the stuff he was talking about there, but… ] Sorry I never formally introduced myself. As I'm sure you could tell I was rather... mh... frantic, at the time.
no subject
...Are you meant to be in charge of us? [a frown] Not that I have any objections...but why were you chosen?
no subject
Your guess is as good as mine. I assume it was probably random, since I don't exactly have any qualifications.

The fact that they're all assigned a cabin together like this... It seems suspicious to her, so while she's impatient to get out and look around, she'll at least exchange names with the others--and see if Lumine has any other information, since she was given a clipboard and all.
She sits cross-legged on one of the beds (she already checked underneath it to make sure there wasn't anything nasty waiting), and when her name's called-]
That's me. Who're you supposed to be? Weren't you...
[She saw very little of the island footage after her own revival, as determined as she was to smash the screen anytime it came back. But she's pretty sure she remembers seeing a glimpse of this girl with Natsuno. Still, even Rita has a little more tact than just outright bringing that up.]
...Are you friends with Yuuki?
no subject
I'm Lumine. [ Makes sense that Rita doesn't know her. She doesn't really recognize Rita, either? She must not have been to the passenger meeting she set up. Then again, there wasn't that many people there to begin with. Kind of a shame, really… ] Sorry, I haven't been around the ship that much. I'm not too sure why I was put in charge, when I don't really know many people here, but...
...
Yes, we're friends. Bad circumstances we became such in, but he's a kind person. Are you also...?
no subject
Yeah, you could say that. He's been pretty useful, even if he acts all broody all the time.
[Because she can't just say "yeah he's kind".]
Anyway, if the choice wasn't random, I bet he just picked whoever he thought would be funny.
no subject
… Anyway, I don't know what would be particularly funny about putting me in… "charge", I suppose. I don't intend to enforce any rules or anything like that. It's not really my style. [ Beat. ] Though, from the looks of everyone else here, that seems to be the general consensus.
no subject
[Why else would she seem a little annoyed about that???]
Hmm...then it was probably just random. It's not like there's any point to leaving anyone in "charge". Who's going to listen?
no subject
[ Partially why Lumine is so upset. Be nice to Natsuno! He deserves it. ]
Presumably, some people would, considering the push for teamwork a couple of the passengers have been advocating. Leadership is a good way to get some people who aren't used to it to work on their skills this way. I'm just not entirely sure why the Captain is the one to make us do this.
no subject
[It clearly has nothing to do with Rita bossing him around, right? Right?]
...Somehow, nurturing your leadership skills doesn't seem like something the captain would have in mind.
What sort of rules did they leave you with, anyway?
no subject
Oh, uh… Nothing. It has your names, a little map for where everyone is in the cabins and the general layout of the campgrounds. A list of activities, but nothing saying that I have to enforce them… [ … ] Apparently there's a dance on the last day.
no subject
Oh...that's it?
[She doesn't really like the sounds of a dance--not here, anyway. Dancing is fun under normal circumstances.]
What kind of activities are we talking about, anyway?
[She asks it warily, because she still doesn't trust anything about this trip.]
no subject
[ Because, you know, after Murder Game, that sounds like something that would happen here. ]
Obviously, I don't know for certain, but it's best to be on guard, at least.
[ Anyway, She glances down at the clipboard again, giving a little hum. ] Looks like there's hiking trails, exercise courses, swimming games, craft exercises, and some campfire stories. It doesn't say anything odd or concerning, though.
no subject
[She crosses her arms with a frown, before blinking in confusion as Lumine lists off the activities.]
...If he's trying to get us to lower our guard, he'd better think again. It's so normal, it's just even more suspicious.
