She realises, belatedly, how it must have sounded, and raises a placatory hand.

She thinks Crichton and Natsuno and everyone who matters the slightest bit to her shouldn't be here, and yes, it makes her angry that they chose this, but she's doing her level best to suppress that anger. They have free choice, even to take actions she never would, and Tayrey allowing herself to get emotional over it would be, ultimately, very unhelpful. Counterproductive.

'Can I ask why? By milder you thought - harmless, like the festival-day one? Or only less bloody?' Tayrey never goes on any of them, harmless or not. No co-operation with her captor. No indulging his whims or games.
