Ekko: reflections in July
Who: Ekko & Open
When: Second half of July
Where: various locations
What: Ekko making more of a mark, exploring boundaries, and expressing his truth and lies
Warnings: graffiti/vandalism, self-depreciating thoughts, mentions of drug use
Prompt 1: Graffiti around the ship, latest work CW: CW:graffiti/vandalism, drug mention
Times had been trying, whether speaking the truth or lying, it was one extreme or the other. It felt like he was going to smother under the words pouring out each time he opened his mouth. A relationship heading south, as whatever they were. became harder to see the lines blur, all because of shimmer. Headaches, chills, shivers vanish without trace, and now suddenly he's invading her space?
The first of fireflight appears outside the cabin 119, and then 110, the pool, then the sports deck. The latter with a message of momentary truth as he was caught in a shower. Then just across the way, outside of cabin 120 a clear message god is a lie. And now to the port side out on the deck Ekko finished up one last little piece of art, stretching about twenty feet. Each time a tag is taken down, he does his best to put it back up, and while he's not being blatant it's pretty clear who's behind it, especially with the last one as he sits back on the board and admires it.
Prompt 2: Flying in the sky, out over the sea
When not expressing his artist side, Ekko was gathering information. Seeing just how far he could fly out before hitting the barrier, and seeing just how high he could go; which was admittedly a lot higher than he would have wanted. But the ride back down had been rather thrilling, and the last-minute save from eating the deck must have looked rather cool, even if all the towels were sent flying. Taking the time from other projects, and to himself, he was adjusting the blades and the sensitivity of the controls as well, making it to where he could bank a little faster with how much thinner the air here was.
Of course, anyone who wants to give it a try gets the chance, though he'll only take it a foot or two off the deck until he knew they can handle it. If they've ever wanted to know how to fly, this is it.
Prompt 3: Payback at the Playback - Playback
Jinx had shown him the arcade not long after they arrived, having claimed most of the high scores for herself in a very short time. But on this one machine in particular her initials were disappearing, as Ekko hopped his own score to the top of the list. Frogger was pretty simple and compared to the game he usually played with Jinx, the stakes were much lower. Finding the right path, making the most of each moment, and timing the moves just right. This was what Ekko excelled at and so with a few playthroughs, it go to the point where he could play most of the game blindfolded. In fact if challenged to do so, he'd glad accept.
Prompt 4: Drinks around the pool CW: self-depreciating thoughts
"Anything but water."
Well, hopefully, something stronger than a soda. Ekko laid his head down on the bar, the sun beginning to set as the deck was bathed in its fading light. It had been a month and half that he'd been on the ship, and other than the time in the camp, he'd been at a loss for what he was supposed to do. There wasn't a fight for him here, no one being treated as if they were lesser. The continuation they were in were better than anything he would have or could have dreamed of before, with their being safe hor food for everyone, water, drinks, a pool, even beds. Life on the ship had been far kinder and simpler than it had ever been in Zaun, even when they'd gone camping.
Tapping the bar he examined the glass in front of him. He'd heard about the battle royale, but still they'd all come back, how many times had he gone on a mission for someone to never come home, and for another portrait to go up on the wall. He always had another one to put up, always someone else who was lost, who managed to give more than he could.
"Maybe being here is for the best."
Wildcard: Have something else you want to play out, set it up or catch me on plurk at
