The set up is not much different from last time, with food and drinks set up at tables on the side of the stage that can be rearranged for when it's time to do something more creative. The difference a prop wall has been pulled onto to the stage, proudly displaying everyone's flags.

Grab a drink and some food and be ready to reconnect with your marvelous mates!

Oh ho ho ho! You, my friend, are in for a spooky treat.

Spooky? Hell yeah, I could go for something spooky.

Is it gory? Like that lizard park one?

Gory hmm... It can be certainly. It's more psychological horror. Lots of fuckery about and that kind of thing. And something called telegrams. Not sure what those are but I assume it's like the device...letters... [whatever they're called]

I've been meaning to use those more. Take pictures and shit. You know, for... posterity. Took a couple in your closet the other day; I'll show you sometime. Was trying on some outfits.

[Huh, this Dracula must be from a pretty modern time if they've got the device-letter kind of stuff.]

So is it a story about spooky letters?

Wow. Did I know about pictures? That is amazing. [he might start using it more himself!] That's some kind of magic isn't it!

[he nods]

Mm! And newspaper articles and diary entries. It's all very interesting and just gives me creeps right up my spine.

[saltandpepperbeard]

[Ed fishes into his back pocket and produces the little glass brick device. Pushing the buttons he was shown, he brings up the picture feature and angles it at the two of them, pulling Stede to a stop briefly. He leans in and says quietly, into Stede's ear as he presses the button for the picture to work:]

How's that for magic?

Art gallery right in your pocket.

[Chuckles as he looks at the picture and then stores the device.] Love it. You're making a weird face.

What? Oh come on, Ed I was blinking! I've never seen something like that. [he huffs] Well I'll take no end of pictures I can tell you! I do have a little in the way of artistic sensibility.

I'd disagree. [He's seen happiness and fear in someone that had no face at all]

Oh... [he sighs] Not great to be honest. [and then...he really doesn't want to know, honestly, but is driven to ask]

Listen...be honest- as honest as you can. Am...am I a joke?

Mmf, all good questions. Questions I'd like some answers to.

What did you and the Captain talk about?

[He keeps chuckling] I look forward to seeing them.

Imagine the possibilities. A picture of whatever you want, whenever and wherever. Fucking rad. It's no longer got to be just for the rich or be a special occasion. I could send you a picture of a coffee to invite you to the cafe thing. That simple. Anything, mate.

Oof. Sand Dollars gives me a bit of a sour stomach lately. I'm going to run out of places soon. [he has to stop being traumatized, really. Though now it will also remind him of...the one time that he and Izzy stood shoulder to shoulder. For however brief a time it lasted. He squeezes Ed's hand but decides to move past it for now]

I like it. More people should be able to have access to this- And not have to wait seven months for a picture they don't even like.

[Stede. Of course it was Stede fucking Bonnet. He can't help but roll his eyes. Not at Pollux, but at the sheer irony of it all. Which puts Izzy in the unfortunate position of either apologizing for Stede to make Pollux feel better or blowing the whole thing off. Neither are good, but it's a small distraction from the touch at his elbow and words far, far too kind for the likes of him.

He does glance, though. At the touch. He wonders why. He wonders why he doesn't immediately hate it.]

Bonnet's a prick and he doesn't deserve you. Show him all your mercy and it isn't enough if it doesn't directly serve him. I'm sure your brother would agree that gods shouldn't be serving anyone, least of all those who don't want them.

[ninetoes]

[He'll simmer in that for a moment. It's nice. Low bar, maybe, but someone not wanting him to die, specifically saying it, specifically doing something about it.. you don't hear that often in his line of work. Not for men like him. Not that many would have to opportunity to get close enough to try but he's also had his fair share of brushes with certain doom.]

We'll do the tattoo tomorrow. Instead of practice.

Steven and I thought we could convince him to let some people go home who wanna, because there's other people, like me an' him who would willingly stay. He wasn't interested, and then Steven almost passed out when the Captain explained that we can't go back anyway.

Wasn't much of a success, and I didn't even get to ask if we could have a consolation waterslide at the pool.

I don't know--we could go retake those places. No reason a place should have power over you.

And ugh. Fuck, can't imagine paying for a portrait and--I'd probably stab the artist.

Maybe... but not just now I think. [one step at a time. And speaking of steps, they are almost to the library now so he absently puts a finger over his lips as they enter]

You probably would. [he speaks in a hushed voice] Though knowing artistic temperament, you'd probably get stabbed back.

[he approaches a shelf and runs his fingers along the spine, trying to find it]

Anything else catch your fancy?

[Oh. Right. That. The not going home thing. Izzy is still Dealing With That little chestnut he's recently been given. Thanks Skulduggery.

But also actually thanks, because he hates not being informed. Difficult news is still news.]

Maybe I'll ask him for one next time we speak.

.. you really wouldn't go home? Not even home, but your world? Do you really like it here?

[He wanders the library and looks at the spines of the books, at titles he cannot read. He recognizes a combination of letters that he's come to associate with Stede's name, but doesn't pick it up.

He spots a book with a skull and crossbones, but they'd probably get the whole thing wrong anyway. Passes up another with a kid on a demonic-looking horse, because he doesn't want to read a kid book.

He finally pulls out a book with some creepy looking guy on the cover in shadows and hands it to Stede. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.]

Any idea if that one's any good?

I'm dead, what am I going back to? Myself as a rotten corpse? Got a buddy here who's from 17 years after I died so by then I bet my body is completely disintegrated or some shit. I hope I was a cool chew toy for the wolves.

I don't like it here, but it's better than back home. So much better. Even when I was alive.

Oh, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I haven't read that one. We can add it to the stack. Here is our old friend Dracula and, oh- what about this one? [he finds a copy of Frankenstein and hands it over] Seem interesting?

Sure. Looks spooky enough.

We can come back tomorrow for more, though, mate. You got enough to get you through the night. Thought we were getting you a drink and going to have a laydown?

I'll run it by your right hand. She's a hardass bitch but I think I can sweet-talk her.

Right you are. We'll put this back where it came from and to the room we go. Fortunately I have some sherry stashed away. [he offers his arm gallantly to Edward] Shall we?

[He takes Stede's arm.]

Not stashed that well. I found it the other day while poking around. Didn't drink it, but I was tempted.

I hadn't taken him for that type as someone power hungry, I only wished to help him if anything...

( to do that, the other would have to accept castor as well, but as usual, it seems that his personality isn't to anyone's liking but a select few. if she was entirely honest, he seemed so calm and meek that she didn't expect him to explode the way that he did— really can't judge a book by its cover. )

Yes, I'll keep that in mind about him, as I have with your words before. As long as he remains on this boat, I'll help him in anyway that I can. Though...

( she has a feeling he won't come to her exactly, and the fact that as a god, she can only help in small ways as she can't instantly turn him into a better captain; he does have a pretty low self-confidence. )

It's true that you can't help a person that doesn't want to be helped.
