Erin's honesty means a lot, and Valdis can truly empathize with the events the woman is describing. Even without all her memories, she knows that the pieces of the serpent haunting her are not of her own doing, and no matter how much Michael might wish differently, her soul is too scarred to ever go back to...wherever...whoever that had been.

"It was just a surprise," she manages to reply, the pain continuing to fade, "Though I get the feeling it won't be the last one."
