Right now her presence is just about all Ruby would ever ask for. Last time her mom someone like Maeve went away they never came back and a part of her was so scared of that happening again.

But it didn't. Maeve is back. Not okay, but back.

So Ruby just cries until the tears start to dry up and she starts to calm down, little by little. Finally, after a while, she lifts her head, sniffling but calmer and trying to give Maeve a smile. "I-I'm sorry. I'm all— damp, now."
