Taking Care of Business
Who: Stede and you!
Where: Sand Dollars, Library, elsewhere
When: Post event
What: Various things
Warnings: None yet
I. Notes
[a few flyers are taped up here and there around the ship. The amount of tape is-- not quite as excessive as last time, but still more than would be reasonable]
Feeling lonely? Anxious? Needing someone to talk to about past or recent events?
Come to Sand Dollars Monday-Friday 12:30-3 for tea and a willing ear.
See: Stede Bonnet
II. Sweet Dreams are Made of These
[books that is. Stede has finally found the library and while he hasn't quite taken up residence in it. He's there late in the evening and can be found sleeping at a table or in a chair at the late night. It's comforting. Feels like home. The easiest way to avoid the trauma plaguing you is to read until your mind gives out. Besides which, his roomie is a creeper]
III. Everything is fine
[perfectly fine. He is staring at a TV or screen with a blank, far away expression- or at the entrance to John's, rigid in the doorway, staring in. He doesn't seem like he's going to move any time soon, so feel free to move around him.]
IV. Wildcard
[hit him up]
Planning Session [Locked to Lucius]
[Stede has managed to move himself after this fiasco, though it wasn't easy. He's left a helpful note on the back of a crumpled piece of paper for Lucius though, on the bedside table, easily seen]
Lucius,
It's been a long couple of weeks. Why not take an extended holiday? I can handle things from here. All I ask is that some time this week, when you have a moment, you can step into Sand Dollars for a little planning. I need to bounce ideas off someone.
Have fun out there! (In as much as you can).

Still, answers are thin on the ground, so he'll take what he can get. Also, tea would be very appreciated.
Behold the sight of a white-haired man walking through the doors, his wooden medicine box slung over one shoulder. He looks around with an air of both caution and curiosity.]
no subject
Well! Over here if you're in for a chat. If not, I'd still like to treat you to some tea. Well 'treat'. Everything is free here so far.
no subject
Ah, glad to hear it. I mostly deal in trade back home, so I don't have much money on me. And some tea would be great, thanks.
[Also, answers. He just has to decide what question to ask first.]
no subject
Tea please. For me and my friend. And some of those chocolate biscuits as well.
[the cafe behind them springs to life, in a manner of speaking. There is nothing to see but cups and saucers and things moving about on their own]
Ghosts. Sort of. Shells of ghosts. It's a bit creepy but you get used to them.
no subject
[The ghosts get a stare, and he just manages to suppress a shiver. That's eerie. Not that he's scared of them exactly, mind you, they're just... kind of sad, actually.
He slings his box off his shoulder to rest it on the floor, sitting down at Stede's table. The chairs are a new thing, but he can roll with them.]
I'm Ginko. I'm something of a... wanderer, I guess.
[He hasn't seen any mushi here yet, throwing out his standard Mushi Master opener might be more confusing than helpful.]
no subject
I'm Stede. Pleasure to meet you, Ginko. I'm a bit of a wanderer myself, over the waves and open seas. [he makes a face] But not this ocean. I don't know how an ocean can look depressed but here we are.
no subject
[He finds himself actually wishing for a cigarette, not because he needs one (thankfully, as they seem to be outlawed here) but because it's a fantastic way to stall for time. Lacking that, he rubs one hand over his jaw and takes a moment to watch the ghosts doing... stuff.]
Herbs, mainly. Maps, but they're not much use here. Some other things that I'm not particularly willing to part with, but I do have a few knickknacks you could look through.
I've been on boats before. Never one quite this large.
no subject
[herbs he doesn't have much use for and maps can be exciting, but he doubts they are of the area.]
This is... well... it's a boat but there's no charm to it. You can't feel the water. The aesthetic is so...numb yourself to the outside world by indulging in petty fantasy. It's not really living. It's just a sterile holiday. [a sigh] In hell.
[he gives the man a frown and pats the table] It's going to be a very rough go of it, my friend.
Also the mun has no real idea about what kinds of bric-a-brac he carries around
Still, he conceals whatever reluctance his body language might reveal by shrugging and leaning down to tug at the ties holding it shut and swinging open the door. It's a little turned away so Ginko can access it better, but from his angle Stede can probably still see the little drawers that fill the interior. Ginko hooks his finger into one, drawing it open and then out so he can tip it out onto the table.
Lots of twists of paper, containing unknown objects. Ginko mostly sweeps those to the side, they're not something he thinks Stede will be interested in. The things he pushes forward are several small but beautiful shells, all with shiny patterns of mother of pearl on their surfaces; some rocks that may or may not be unpolished gems, but do have lovely patterns or colors; several pieces of jade, both carved into intricate shapes and left raw; and a few pieces of leather string, possibly meant for the carved items.]
That's what I've got for sale for now.
[He shrugs at Stede's words]
I just showed up so I don't really know much about the place, I'll have to take your word for it.
this is rp where stories are made up and canon doesn't matter (too much)
[he's not at all interested in the paper, barely sees it really as it just seems like packing material. The shells are lovely and back in his landlocked days he might have treasured them more. The pebbles are alright and he can see that some may be more valuable than others, as he does on occasion take fancy to a gem and he knows how to get what he pays for-- but it's the jade that catches his attention.]
May I? [he waits for assent before picking up one of the finished pieces]
This is exquisite... [he turns it over in his hand, rubs his thumb against the scales. He doesn't have his specs with him but he holds it at a distance to see it better in the light, looking for a flaw but he's not overly familiar with this stone]
I'll take it. And one of these. [he points to the leather tong.]
And... gosh let's see. One of these. [he taps a small shell.] I wonder if you could put a hole through it.
[Lucius might like something like that and it's not valuable enough that someone will try to rob him off it or he'll feel overwhelmed with holding such a pricey object]
What do you want for them?
[and as for the ship. He sighs]
Well the captain, so called, is an asshole who likes to see us hurt each other for whatever reason. We'll come back if we die. [that gives him a cold sick shudder but he'll shake it off]
It... can be difficult here sometimes. Horrifying one moment, boring the next. So it's a good idea to stay on your toes and maybe take up a hobby.
Lol
Yeah, it wouldn't be too much trouble to do that, they're thin shells. Maybe a day to get it right.
[The jade piece is, naturally, one of the most valuable things he carries, so it's hardly a shock Stede picked that out immediately. He considers his options, looking Stede over critically. The other man is wearing fine things, even if they're perhaps a little travel-worn.]
Mmmm... do you have any fine cloth, like your clothes? Or you could name your price and we can go from there.
[He feels something of a chill at the other half of their conversation. People coming back from the dead, it's disturbing and unnatural. Even moreso than the ghosts.]
Back from the dead... seriously? And a hobby could be a problem. My main hobby is wandering in a set direction instead of just aimlessly.
no subject
I could owe you a favor until such a time I have something you would like to acquire. Anything goes so long as it's worth what I'm getting. [because he's not about to trap himself either]
And yes, apparently. It's... [he swallows] rather gruesome.
And... you might want to develop one. Not many places to wander just now and on an island...I'm not sure that would be a good idea.
no subject
That seems like a good deal to me.
[He picks up the piece, deftly threading the leather cord through the hole but leaving the ends loose. He can't be sure this is what Stede wants, but he can tie a knot if the other man likes.]
No need to worry about treating it carefully; though it looks delicate, the stone can stand up to some rough handling. Just try not to drop it on anything hard, and it could one day be a fine heirloom for your children.
And... I'll have to give that one some thought.
[What do people even do with free time, anyway.]
no subject
Well never mind that for now]
It can be a little difficult settling on one or the other. What do you most like to do in your free time?
