JUNE EVENT: CAMP

early on June 10th, Friday's morning announcements end with a request for everyone going on the latest excursion to meet her in the atrium. she seems in noticeably better spirits than she had been last time, and she leads them cheerfully to the tender. once they are all aboard, and the door is securely shut, the interior fills with gas, and, perhaps, their last thought before they slip into unconsciousness is "oh shit, not again."

passengers wake up on a rickety old school bus, driving down a dirt road surrounded by woods. what is it that they notice first? that, no matter what they were wearing before, they are now wearing a camp t-shirt and legitimately horrifyingly short shorts? the overstuffed backpack between their knees? the words "take one down and pass it around" dying on their lips? the fact that Friday is absolutely driving the bus?

or, maybe the fact that it's already slowing down, pulling up in front of a massive wooden sign, saying:

CAMP AION

when they get out of the bus, Friday is the one to divide them up into their cabin groups, and she is the one to give the counselors their very official-looking clipboards and whistles. she explains that they are in charge, and that she will be back to pick them up in a week, and... very little else. she responds to nothing outside of whatever is on her unseen little script, and she gets back on the bus shortly after, leaving them there.

[Mizuki can sit in any laps he wants so long as his loyalties at the end of the day lie with Ebalon, because Ebalon is insane and possessive and he really should be the only one Mizuki loves, right? Right.

I wonder. As far as I've heard, that moon has been that way for some time. I believe most say there's a catastrophe that took place and caused it, though it's much funnier to think that some large demon got hungry.

He blinks at Mizuki and then shakes his head to the latter question.]

No, you did not. I recall the first story, but I never knew your name had such a meaning. How charming.

[ It is funny to think there's a moon sized demon that was one day like "I got the moon munchies". He giggles a little and nods. He wonders what it's actually like to have four moons? Obviously there are planets he knows of that have many, many moons, but most of them don't have people living on them. He's incredibly invested in learning about the natural satellites that exist within his own galaxy back home, actually. He could probably start listing off random facts about random moons that he read in a book somewhere if someone let him. ]

Mmhm, so... [ Mizuki grabs one of Ebalon's hands and begins to use his finger to write letters into it. "Mizu" and "Tsuki" as he explains their meanings. ] "mizu" back in my country of Higashi means "water". "Tsuki" means "moon". So putting them together, [ He writes his name in katakana (ミヅキ) now. ] "Mi-(t)zu-ki"...

[ He looks up at Ebalon now, a very sweet smile on his lips and very soft, adoring eyes as he closes his hand around Ebalon's. ] How does it feel to have obtained something unobtainable, Dantalion~?

[He's horribly in love with this jellyfish, by Henir. The characters are different from what he's used to, processing them visually anyway — it's nice to see something different from the auto-translated characters too. He wrote all his notes in ~~Korean~~ Elrian and they got translated into whatever the fuck English is. Annoying.]

It feels sublime. [Only Ebalon would use the word "sublime" unironically sorry.] I've always liked the thought of obtaining the unobtainable. I'm glad that it's you, huhu. I hope you'll let me keep you.

[Yeah, as if that's not a given at this point. Still, Ebalon has to take every second of every day to remind everyone that he's possessive as hell, especially Mizuki himself. Hello, hi. :) ~~Don't forget who you belong to.~~]

[ Mizuki will occasionally wonder what would happen if they did get to leave and visit each other’s worlds. Would they still be able to understand each other, or would Mizuki have to learn a new language altogether? He’s not opposed to that, of course, it would just be slightly annoying. Guess they would just have to perpetually communicate through mind melding with images and thoughts~! Oh, woe is Mizuki? (Woe is not Mizuki.)

He gently bumps his head to Ebalon, a soft smile on his face. ]

Always. So long as you don’t let me go, then with you I’ll stay. I do mean it whenever I say I’m yours, after all.

[There are translating spells out there! Don't worry about it, they'll burn the bridge when they reach it. And they will, because Ebalon is insane enough to try it.]

I do have a particularly difficult time letting go, especially when it comes to what's mine. I think you'll find me impossible to get rid of regardless.

[Most people do since he's kind of a pain in the ass to kill. Obviously that's not his entire meaning here, but...

Anyway, words only mean so much. Mizuki gets a soft, slow kiss instead of further talking.]

[ Mizuki has a devilish smile just before they kiss. Something childishly mischievous, though before he's able to get a word in as to why, they're in a lip lock. Those are very dangerous words for the jellyfish to hear, really. After all, while he isn't one to take advantage of people's kindness, ever, he is the type to take someone's forgiveness to try and make his own decisions and try to figure things out on his own. Like, if he gets something wrong, he can just have a reset button or a save option with that person…

But that's not immediately what's on his mind right now. Free reign to do whatever he wants in the moment means he can be a cheeky dork. There's a couple tendrils that coil around Ebalon's waist as Mizuki snuggles into him, trying to be as adorable as he can. For no reason in particular! He certainly isn't concocting some devious and silly plan to throw Ebalon into the lake. Mizuki slowly shifts himself so his knees are settled to the sides of Ebalon's lap, rather than in it, sliding his lips so sweetly against his…

And then he fwips Ebalon around into the lake with playful giggles following suit. Sploosh. ]

[Every fucking time—

At least he doesn't yelp or do anything else undignified other than, well, ragdoll and get yote into the lake. Bye.

There's a loud splash and flailing limbs and Ebalon decides, you know what, he's not gonna leave. Unlike the last time ~~probably many times~~ they played in the compass and swam around, Ebalon decides he's gonna do the thing. The thing... Is moderately modifying his form to have gills. He's still borrowing Harque's body so it's the same face and all. Man, admitting he's capable of shapeshifting really did help his ass out.

He's just gonna sink now. Mizuki will have to come here and get him. Yes this is a tantrum (but not really).]

[ It's all fun and games until Ebalon doesn't come back up for air. Reasonably, Mizuki panics, after his initial mischief and giggles wear off. Um? Hello? Ebalon, he knows you can swim?! He is very quick about getting into the water after his panic. Under the surface, he switches over to his more ethereal Aegir tone, audible in the water. ]

Dantalion?? [ Once again, though, the mystique and awe that the siren-esque voice is supposed to elicit is undermined by the panic. ] H-hey, say something- Did I hurt you? [ Concerned, his tendrils coil back around Ebalon and attempt to pull him closer to Mizuki. ]

[Mizuki will be greeted with a very smug-looking Ebalon breathing just fine, thanks, arms crossed as he floats beneath the surface of the water.

Hi.]

Hello, my love. Did I frighten you?

[PROBABLY.]

[ There's a constant flip flop of "What the fuck?" and "YOU BITCH!" all at once before he settles on going over to just… hit Ebalon's chest. ]

You ass! I was worried about you!!! H-how are you-…???

I'm perfectly alright. I thought you might want to join me for a swim.

No! [ … ] Maybe!!!! [ How cruel. ] Y-you can breathe-… how?

[ He could just kiss Ebalon now and ask these questions through thoughts, he knows, but he’s not gonna be the one to “reward” Ebalon with a kiss. Fuck that noise. He’s upset! ]

Oh? I thought I told you about the shapeshifting...

[In... vague terms he did, anyway. "Disguised as a human" totally counts right? He thought it did! But Ebalon's also got that politician "I can't actually answer questions" bullshit going on, so.]

I have gills now for convenience.

[And he's also reworked his lungs... that's not as easy to explain. Mizuki might be able to see said gills if he looks hard enough, though.]

[Remember the racism thing? The only thing he mentioned about not wanting to actively mention any of this. There are No Other Reasons obviously.]

No, instead, he's going to swim down lower into the lake until he gets to the bottom and just sits there like a pouty baby. They're still close enough to land that "the bottom of the lake" isn't actually all that deep. Mizuki's sad this isn't salt water. The water around the cruise is salt water, but that's really hard to sleep in, especially when he hates being apart from Ebalon and Venti for too terribly long. It's the clinginess.

Right now, though, he wants to be upset with Ebalon. He can generally take these reveals in stride and be so enthusiastic about them, but not at the expense of making Mizuki believe he'd almost drowned yet another boyfriend. He was just trying to have a bit of fun, not have a heart attack. ]

[...ooooooooooooooh he's in trouble, isn't he? Hm. He doesn't think he likes the "hey you fucked up" thing, actually, hold on. Can he just like... erase that memory? ...no? Okay, no. Emotional maturity, emotional maturity... he has that somewhere.

Ebalon breathes a short sigh that makes the water bubble, frowns down at where Mizuki disappeared, and swims lower. It takes him a moment to get down there, but when he does, he squishes against Mizuki's side and hugs him tightly. Apologetically.]

I'm very sorry, my love. I wasn't trying to upset you. ...what can I do to make it up to you?

[ Mizuki doesn't make any effort to pull away or move when Ebalon joins him. Realistically, Mizuki knows that it's on him for yeeting Ebalon once again, and that this is probably punishment for doing so without care so frequently, but… that doesn't mean it hurts less. That doesn't mean Mizuki is suddenly not upset. Just because he did something wrong doesn't mean he should give Ebalon a pass?

In response to being touched, though, he does glitch out a bit. ]

You scared me. I-I… thought I'd really hurt you. [ Ebalon may have gotten roasted, shot, and stabbed and survived all of that (for the most part), but that doesn't mean drowning doesn't mean anything. He leans against Ebalon now. His voice wavers, which makes the ethereal tone sound a little distorted. ] I thought that you weren't going to come back up and it was all my fault.

[ Monster. ]

[...ah. Yeah, that... would be a concern. While Ebalon knows that he's basically immortal (for a majority of... things, anyway), Mizuki surely doesn't, which is a revelation he has all of a sudden. Yes. Of course. He's stupid. He should've known he was stupid, but here he is, finding out that he's stupid.

He'd scoop Mizuki off of the bottom of the lake and drag him into his lap if he thought it would help or be appropriate at all. As it is, he's trying to give Mizuki some space. A little bit. A hug isn't much space but it's less hands-on than usual.]

It's my fault. I was trying to play around. I didn't think of the repercussions. [He never does.] I won't frighten you like that again, I promise.

["I hate hurting you, I don't want to hurt you" and then he remembers he's still mind-linked with Mizuki since talking underwater is hard, whoops, that slipped out, which is followed by something like this isn't about you, this is about Mizuki which is then followed by another revelation that he keeps leaving the link open.

Cringe.]

[ At first, Mizuki just nods at his initial words, some vague ideas of “thank you” send back to him as he attempts to pull himself together a bit. Mizuki probably needs to stop being so over emotional and overreacting to things as a result, but he thinks that maybe, this time, it’s justified. But then the shock sets in at the rest. He just stares at him, with these accidental messages settling in his own with a “…?” then “…!” and then “?????”.

Lap Mizuki is happening now, though. Hi, Ebalon. He has things to say as that expression goes from surprise to a very soft smile. Undertones of sadness from his feelings, but overall just… soft. He puts their foreheads together. ]

I don’t understand… I keep thinking, “I love Ebalon the most anyone can physically love a person,” and yet, you go and say things and suddenly my already expansive feelings for you somehow grow…

[ He gently nudges Ebalon’s nose with his, then slowly presses their lips together. Despite being underwater, he keeps it as passionate as the water may allow. After all, he wants Ebalon to feel just how much he loves him, not just be told as much. Although, he does mentally respond back to Ebalon all the same. ]

I love you, Dantalion. And I’m finding that my love for you will someday even outweigh the universe. I never ever want to hurt you, either.

Mizuki's emotions are absolutely justified, and sure, it's taken a miracle for Ebalon to get this far in acknowledging that (any other person, any other time, he would've feigned caring just to get on their good side) — but as it stands now, he knows he actually fucked up and he's not going to try and convince Mizuki otherwise. Certainly not going to try and tell Mizuki that he's wrong for being upset.

He's worried. Ebalon usually has some form of worry when it comes to Mizuki, but it spills over when he thinks of Mizuki being in any form of distress. Especially if it's his fault, knowing how he is.

Love does awful things to a man.]

I love you, too, my dear. I'm sorry my stream of consciousness invaded. [But it got him a kiss, so?] I worry about you, you know. It's difficult not to fret over you, in fact.

[His fretting might be the sole reason he hasn't acted on his constant desire to wretch Mizuki away from Venti. Ugh, look at him, he's got a little bit of selflessness in there. K...kind of.]

[ The kiss just leads into another, that leads into another, and another and another. Each more and more loving and slightly less soft than its predecessor. It hurts how much he adores this man, wishing he could quell his boiling over heart with these kisses alone, but it doesn't seem to help at all. He might just be stoking the flame, actually. This doesn't convince Mizuki to stop, however. ]

It's alright. You're bound to get my own unfiltered thoughts occasionally, too.

[ It's honestly kind of unbelievable that he hasn't gotten some already. He'd apologize if any of those thoughts sound vaguely eldritch in nature, but he doesn't want to ruin the moment. And, anyway, Ebalon knew what the fuck he was signing up for when Mizuki told him the Seaborn stuff, so!! ]

You shouldn't worry about me so much, though. Honest, you'll just give yourself a headache if you do. There's nothing at all we need to fret over when we're together like this, anyway.

[ 'Nothing else matters.' Ah. Did he think that too? Whoops. ]

You're right, and I know you've told me not to worry over you in the past, but something always makes me worry anyhow. I don't know if this is true, but perhaps it's a case of being in love.

[Being worried about the wellbeing of your partner is, in fact, the baseline. It's the most normal, least-unhinged thing Ebalon has ever done in his life. It's a pure feeling, so unlike anything else he's ever experienced.

The anxiety about doing right by Mizuki lingers, it always does, but it feels refreshing to know that Mizuki is alright.]

I've had stress headaches before, and honestly, I doubt you could give me one. I've dealt with some... people in the past.
