JUNE EVENT: CAMP
early on June 10th, Friday's morning announcements end with a request for everyone going on the latest excursion to meet her in the atrium. she seems in noticeably better spirits than she had been last time, and she leads them cheerfully to the tender. once they are all aboard, and the door is securely shut, the interior fills with gas, and, perhaps, their last thought before they slip into unconsciousness is "oh shit, not again."
passengers wake up on a rickety old school bus, driving down a dirt road surrounded by woods. what is it that they notice first? that, no matter what they were wearing before, they are now wearing a camp t-shirt and legitimately horrifyingly short shorts? the overstuffed backpack between their knees? the words "take one down and pass it around" dying on their lips? the fact that Friday is absolutely driving the bus?
or, maybe the fact that it's already slowing down, pulling up in front of a massive wooden sign, saying:
when they get out of the bus, Friday is the one to divide them up into their cabin groups, and she is the one to give the counselors their very official-looking clipboards and whistles. she explains that they are in charge, and that she will be back to pick them up in a week, and... very little else. she responds to nothing outside of whatever is on her unseen little script, and she gets back on the bus shortly after, leaving them there.
welcome to camp. let's make some summer memories!

so she sees the two figures and the house, immediately can pick up what it represents. when maeve asks, jinx's go to answer would be monkey, explosions, words or smiley faces. but then she decides to go a different route.)
Similar to yours.
(her tone is soft and gentle -- a complete contrast to several minutes earlier.)
— Sometimes I would draw my family that way I don't forget 'em.

"It's been such a long time since we've been a family." Which is difficult to fully explain. She was built, manufactured. Their loops were no longer the same. Her daughter has a new mother and she was somewhere Maeve can't reach without finding the person that has it hidden inside him.
"The only other people really worth remembering are gone."

(she still has her sister here now and she is grateful for that. but it doesn't erase the hurt of that night. the night when their second family died and her sister abandoned with vander's corpse behind her. it's a night that no matter how much she tries to live on her days, it haunts her. the way her sister harshly grab on her face; eyes piercing with so much hatred and fire after slapping her across the face.
'because you're a jinx!'
jinx turns her gaze away from maeve and her drawing -- pretending to look somewhere else in the cabin.)
Y'know, they really oughta make the cabins look different around here.
(this is her way of trying to change the subject.)
no subject
"If you could change them, how would you?" Because it seems easier to talk about this for her as well.

(jinx then snoops around her cabin -- even going through a few things to see if this cabin is extremely identical to hers.)
Or 'least have some posters. — That alone can make it different and it won't be such a snoozeville.

She looks over as Jinx goes through things. She’s not sure what belongs to who.
“Posters are certainly a way to add something to the room,” she says after a moment. “Perhaps some plants could be nice to have around as well. Flowers too.”

(so far, the items she's peeking through are not worth of anything. basic bare necessities they will need for the next several days.)
