JUNE EVENT: CAMP

early on June 10th, Friday's morning announcements end with a request for everyone going on the latest excursion to meet her in the atrium. she seems in noticeably better spirits than she had been last time, and she leads them cheerfully to the tender. once they are all aboard, and the door is securely shut, the interior fills with gas, and, perhaps, their last thought before they slip into unconsciousness is "oh shit, not again."

passengers wake up on a rickety old school bus, driving down a dirt road surrounded by woods. what is it that they notice first? that, no matter what they were wearing before, they are now wearing a camp t-shirt and legitimately horrifyingly short shorts? the overstuffed backpack between their knees? the words "take one down and pass it around" dying on their lips? the fact that Friday is absolutely driving the bus?

or, maybe the fact that it's already slowing down, pulling up in front of a massive wooden sign, saying:

 

 

 

 

 

CAMP AION

when they get out of the bus, Friday is the one to divide them up into their cabin groups, and she is the one to give the counselors their very official-looking clipboards and whistles. she explains that they are in charge, and that she will be back to pick them up in a week, and... very little else. she responds to nothing outside of whatever is on her unseen little script, and she gets back on the bus shortly after, leaving them there.

(her words makes jinx internally wince because vi didn't take care of her. at least these last few years, anyway. it was silco that took her in, fed her, and gave her a home when vi abandoned her with vander's corpse. she gaze is back on the picture she drew -- doing her best not to sound sour. fio doesn't need to know all the details. there's enough going on this journey as it is; her past is something she didn't need to be aware of.)

She... took care of me when I was little. That last few years, we went on our separate ways. Went off to do... other things. — But we caught up again so...

[ Her smile wavers a little and she senses that she might have said something wrong. And from the way that Jinx continues speaking of Vi, she realizes there must be something more complicated behind the relationship. While curious, she tries to be careful with her choice of words. She doesn't want to spur on any more unwelcome thoughts. ]

Are the two of you getting along?

[opheliac]

(she hums quietly as a response; probably could go either way of a yes or no. but she wouldn't do that to fio -- leave her hanging like that.)

Yeah, we are. It's just a lil' strange having her here, y'know? 'Cuz for a long while it was just me. So it's weird but... not a bad weird.

[sabigoe]

Hm. Maybe it'll get less weird the more time you spend with her! Give it some time.

[ Hopefully. Kind of like adjusting to living on the ship, after living worlds away from home for a while. She's making an attempt to sound reassuring. ]

Yeah, that's what I'm hopin' for.

(finally, jinx leans back to get herself a stretch -- arms raising over her head.)

RIGHT, SO! — Paint. We oughta start on that before, I dunno, people turn on each other.

(she bends over to fio to plant a small kiss on the top of her head before raising up to her feet. the drawing of vi jinx will take along with her; folding it a few times before shoving it in her back pocket for now.)
