JUNE EVENT: CAMP
early on June 10th, Friday's morning announcements end with a request for everyone going on the latest excursion to meet her in the atrium. she seems in noticeably better spirits than she had been last time, and she leads them cheerfully to the tender. once they are all aboard, and the door is securely shut, the interior fills with gas, and, perhaps, their last thought before they slip into unconsciousness is "oh shit, not again."
passengers wake up on a rickety old school bus, driving down a dirt road surrounded by woods. what is it that they notice first? that, no matter what they were wearing before, they are now wearing a camp t-shirt and legitimately horrifyingly short shorts? the overstuffed backpack between their knees? the words "take one down and pass it around" dying on their lips? the fact that Friday is absolutely driving the bus?
or, maybe the fact that it's already slowing down, pulling up in front of a massive wooden sign, saying:
when they get out of the bus, Friday is the one to divide them up into their cabin groups, and she is the one to give the counselors their very official-looking clipboards and whistles. she explains that they are in charge, and that she will be back to pick them up in a week, and... very little else. she responds to nothing outside of whatever is on her unseen little script, and she gets back on the bus shortly after, leaving them there.
welcome to camp. let's make some summer memories!

(she pushes herself off the cabinet then resumes back to scooping around their cabin for any goodies.)
It's gotta be in their blood, right? So get their blood and then, I dunno, put it in my bombs? Maybe we'll get a reaction. Might not be able to teleport us outta here but could knock the Cap's door down. Fight magic with magic?

are clarke's deeper desires for progress and destruction tickled by the prospect of — the painfully mortal, augmented or not — simple humans somehow managing to level the playing field? you know it.
if this is what they mean by hextech, is she suddenly interested in investing in jinx and ekko's offshoot startup? bet.
but does the familiar weight of playing peacemaker and advocate for all people still hang heavy on her shoulders? it's certainly heavier than the string looped through the whistle that rests on her chest. )
Okay but. Have you considered not just...randomly stabbing someone who can use magic. You could just ask for some of their blood. Some of the magicians here are basically just scientists, and might actively help you out just because they want to see if it'd work.

(Ekko hadn't seen enough to know any of the glyphs, but that was pretty straightforward from what had been told to him. He didn't have much invested in the ship or with anyone else on the ship, but the idea of being able to do something helpful and that would benefit most of those that he did know, that was something Ekko was on board with.
Still, it would mean keeping a closer eye on Jinx as well. There was a certain danger in what they were doing as well. And he didn't want past mistakes being repeated.)
It might not even be something in the blood.
