JUNE OPEN LOG
[but, hey: you shouldn't be left out of the camping fun just because you didn't think to sign up, or you only got here yesterday, or actually you only got here today and you have no idea what's going on! because the camp can come to YOU!
meaning, shortly after seeing the others off, Friday returns to the atrium and begins setting up a few items she's brought from... somewhere, one assumes? a pup tent. two sleeping bags. a tent stove. s'mores accoutrements. there's a fake potted plant that she decided looked enough like a tree. all pushed together in the middle of the atrium.

Vi grins at Claudia, because what kid doesn't like terrible jokes? It might be a way to put them both at ease, because something about this small child gives Vi a troubled feeling in her gut.
But she ignores it, and scoots over on the floor to pat a spot close by, inviting Claudia to sit with her. The answer to the question 'what kind of party is this' is a 'pity party', but Vi doesn't want to blast her with complete cynicism. Not when Friday went through all this trouble.
"I think she's trying to make it a party so we're not completely bummed about being left behind. Us stragglers should celebrate, too, right?"

"If this outing proves as the last one, then I suppose we might as well celebrate being safe from the violence."
This with a small smile, amused, her shell-pink lips pressed closed to hide her fangs. Her dark blue eyes are flame bright in her pale face.

"You saw all that, huh?"
Vi won't do her the disservice of trying to comfort her or sweep it under the rug, after all, that's just not the world Vi is from. But it does bother her that everyone was in on this 'battle royale' situation.
"I wasn't here, but my sister told me about it."
Vi leans closer into Claudia, with a conspiratorial whisper, the type of theatrical conversation that would have had her adolescent-aged sister giggling.
"But I think we're safe. Madame Friday looks like she could be mean if she needed to. Bet she could knock even me out."

It does not stink of cooked meat, and Claudia has never seen such a confection. She does not eat, of course, but if she is going to be stuck with all these mortals, she might as well learn about them. It's something to do.

"I actually have no idea. It's sweet. Like really sweet. I've never tasted anything like it before. So, I guess it must be from... here?"
She waves a bandaged hand around her head gesturing to the ceiling of... 'here'. In the broadest sense.
"Do you want to try one? They're easy to make."

Claudia doesn't consume anything but blood: but she lies gently and says, "I do not enjoy sweets." Something more like mortal sensibilities: while she is presenting herself more an adult from the start, she is not being so open with her true nature.

"Suit yourself, but they are incredible."
She lapse into silence, chewing absentmindedly on the rest of her crackers.
"Hey, what's your name anyway?"
no subject
A peculiar sort of person, apparently far more accustomed to mortal children than Claudia herself is. Claudia does not remember being mortal, and is not making very much of an effort to present herself as a child anyway. Her dress is a grown lady's, and so is her hairstyle, but she knows now this is not the acute signal it would be in her own time period.
Some people will still see her as a child. She is resigned to this.
