[open SPOOKY radio show] Sharky's spooky scary DJ time

Who: The entirety of the Serena Eterna, but also Sharky.
What: A spooky radio show for Halloween!
When: about 5pm to 8pm, on October 31st
Where: ALL OVER via the PA system; you can find Sharky himself broadcasting from the Guest Services desk.
Warnings: Other than on-air swearing and some references to Last Halloween, there shouldn't be anything too upsetting.
Notes: THIS IS TECHNICALLY A MINGLE LOG. some of the stuff you can do here:
- HAND OUT CANDY IN YOUR OWN TOP LEVEL IF YOU WANT????
- thread out reactions to songs (someone struck by nostalgia might be caught singing along, or maybe they want to dance, or they're heavily confused by the lyrics)
- drop off some single-post introspective narration about the State of your character as they listen to songs glorifying a part of ship history most would rather forget
- reactions to the fact that apparently, people can just??? use??? the pa system to play whatever they want???
- save the post so you can have your character get a song stuck in their head in future logs
- seriously do whatever you want, i love you guys and will enjoy seeing any effect this radio broadcast has!
there is a top-level header for Sharky at the desk. any ic comments, questions, concerns, etc can be directed right to him :)

[around 5pm on Halloween, the ship's PA system crackle on, and Sharky's voice comes down on high from the connected speakers. like last time, the following "radio" show can be heard across the ship; there are occasional bouts of dead air as Sharky leaves to get food or drinks or use the bathroom, and eagle-eared listeners will overhear the occasional background chatter, since that Sharky can't just plug his boombox directly into the aux.]

You guys are never gonna guess what I realized I had in my CD case. Oh, uh, hi, it's Sharky, this is the Sharky Radio Party Hour, except it's usually more than an hour. Anyway, this is a special edition of the show, where I play you guys some of the Halloween bops from my cousin's Halloween CD that I just found out I had!

So, full disclaimer for all of y'all who weren't here last year: most of us who were are like, ummmm, just a little traumatized or whatever from the time where a bunch of ghosts possessed our bodies and then tried to murder everyone so they could get a do-over of their own cruise. So like, be cool if people aren't in the mood to party.

Okay enough talkin'. I'll play you a classic Halloween jam before I get back into it with some actual-factual announcement-type shhhh-stuff. Stuff! Hah. Totally fammily friendly up in this bitch.

Danny Elfman - This is Halloween

See? That's the kind of vibe Halloween is supposed to have. Fun spooky, not "everyone's gonna die" spooky! And speaking of Halloweentown, you guys should know that Ava's set up a haunted house in the bowling alley! If you don't know what that is, just know that nobody is supposed to die in it! It's just for fun! And nobody will judge you if you get ~scaaaared~, ooooOOOooooh!

Also, IDK if anyone else is handing out candy tonight, but if you roll up here at the desk in costume, I got a pile of candy you can pick out of! Just come on down to the service desk and show me what you got!!! All ages trick-r-treating here, man, just make sure you come dressed up!

Mystery Skulls - Ghost
Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party
DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince - A Nightmare on my Street

Man, realizing I can't play some of these songs without feelin' major creeps. Sorry, anyone who's lookin' forward to more Disney music but no way in hell am I putting us through Grim Grinnin' Ghosts.

So, quick history lesson: Halloween's an Earth holiday all about spooky scary skeletons -- not that one -- candy, costumes, and partying! It's a time of year where you can just sit back and enjoy scary movies, drink PSLs, carve pumpkins and scare the crap out of your family and friends. One time, Hurk and I turned off the circuit breaker at my aunt's place and convinced her boyfriend that there was a crazy person who murdered a yoga instructor then escaped from an asylum. It was really easy because he had bluetooth enabled on all of his shit and his password was the same thing: "KaleYeah1991," so we could make up fake news reports and blast them through his iPod. Anyway we had to stop when Auntie A came home and caught Hurk right when he was about to put on the costume. Too bad, too, the mask alone cost like forty bucks.

Anyway, we took him out later and got hammered at the Rye's Halloween party so it all worked out. Hey, how about some creepy theme music to set the mood for any pranks you might try to play??

Bernard Herrmann - Psycho Main Theme
John Carpenter - Halloween Main Theme

Some of these songs only make sense if I tell you about the horror movies they're from, but that's kinda a lot of info you don't need. Just trust that one of these songs is in a werewolf movie, and the other one is taken hella literally by a creepy monster.

The Marcels - Blue Moon
Jack Teagarden - Jeepers Creepers

OMG. Speakin' of spooky scary skeletons...

Andrew Gold - Spooky Scary Skeletons (Undead Tombstone Remix)
Rob Zombie - Living Dead Girl
Alice Cooper - Feed My Frankenstein

Aaaah, fffffudge, okay, just a few more and then I'm done! There's still some candy left if you're lookin' for it -- otherwise, enjoy a couple of dance tunes that are probaby my favorite Halloween songs ever. LOL, guess if you can tell why!!

Brian David Gilbert - Stayin' Alive
Brian David Gilbert - Tragedy
Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters

Alright, there are only a couple more songs on this mix Hurk made. Man, I miss that guy. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty okay with like, 80% of what I got goin' on here -- I got friends, I'm romantically entangled, the food and liquor is almost infinite -- but I do think about my cousin sometimes. But mostly I just think about you guys, and how glad I am we are not havin' a repeat of the ghosts in the machine gettin' out. Mostly 'cos they don't exist anymore, but whatever. Sorry for cursin' but Fuck Those Guys. Especially you, Pickles, wherever the fuck you are!

Okay, uhhhh, anyway, here are the last few songs from the CD, literally cannot have Halloween without them.

Panic! At the Disco - It's Almost Halloween
Bobby Boris Pickett & the Crypt Kickers - Monster Mash
Sheb Wooley - Purple People Eater
The Sanderson Sisters - I Put a Spell On You

This last song tonight has a dance that goes along with it! If you know it, you better pull it out now and really weird the non-Earthlings out!

Michael Jackson - Thriller

Aaaand that's my time, guys, ummm, I'll stick around the lounge by the help desk for a lil' bit with the rest of my candy, so there's still time to trick or treat! And make sure you check out Ava's haunted house while it's still open!! Pour one out for the shitty Halloweens of the past and enjoy this one as much as you can! Later!!

[and with that, the PA system falls mercifully quiet once again.]

Ari Tayrey

[Another month, another compulsory broadcast of Earther music. Ari Tayrey can't see why anyone in their right mind would want anything to do with this Halloween nonsense after what happened last time, but there are plenty of people on this ship that she fails to understand.

The good news is, this time she can do something about the unwanted noise in her cabin. Tayrey rummages in a drawer and takes out the headphones she was sent not too long ago. Once they're over her ears? Silence. Nothing but blissful silence. She can carry on reading in peace.

About halfway through the show, she steps out to get more coffee. There's something refreshing in how quiet it all is. Let's hope nobody decides to sneak up on her.]

[ooc: mostly intended as a mini standalone to show off the regain but open to tags! She can't hear anything with the headphones on, so jump scare her if you want.]
