And then there was a small detective

Who: Conan and You
What: Small detective doing small detective things.
When: Sometime Before April
Where: Atrium - Deck One.
Warnings: eh. I'll get back to you on that one.

Waking up in a strange place is a sadly common for Shinichi-it wasn't even the first time he woke up on a strange boat. At least it wasn't a canoe this time. Still, after meeting with the cruise director and the near heart attack from her knowing his real name. He tried to insist there was a mix up but after that mess he decided to distract himself with a little exploring to get a better idea of the layout and where exactly he is.

The first place he's investigating is the main hall. He's got his notebook out and seems to be taking notes and looking far too calm for the age he appears to be.

He looks over as he hears someone approaching and shoves the notebook in his pocket before putting on his best little kid face and rushing up to them.

"Hello! Do you know where we are?" He offers his sweetest little kid face, eyes bright and innocent.

[[ ooc: Since Conan is a detective and I'm.. not. I made this post for people to info dump about things Conan might notice about your character. ]]

"It being Sunday would be all the more reason to play truant."

Was it Sunday though? Hey! What did you know had been. Sunday, very first day of the rest of their lives, when he and his best friend Aziraphale had managed to win their freedom from Heaven and Hell. Also apparently cruise ship kidnapping day, where he lost that freedom again just that quickly. Sundays were not his day.

"The unknown deep, the fathoms... I'm sure if it has a name its something appropriately macabre. Did you just get here?"

"Eeeh."

Was it terrible to admit he hadn't really been keeping track of the time he was here all that well? He was about to!

"Its been a few weeks, I think. Long enough to start finding the ship a bit too small."

That cruise director... She was a confusing menace the way she flittered around the ship being everywhere, watching everything, and having so cheerfully spoken to him of murder.

"Why would they put kids on a ship like this..."

Crowley was familiar with Detectives as he had watched many a one of them up there larger than life on the big screen. His personal favorite was Bond. James Bond. Technically he was a spy but there was a good deal of detecting done in those movies too.

This one seemed a little short for a Detective but, hey, maybe they start them out in the profession young.

"That's very Hardy Boys of you. Have you been able to detect anything interesting yet?"

"Then you should talk to the doll."

Crowley reveled in this as for a brief moment he was like one of those helpful yet tough gangster types the gumshoes were always running into in the movies.

"She has all the answers. You have to read between the lines... She doesn't always say everything outright, but Friday knows what is going on here."

And what they all had in common was that they were alive in some way. This Crowley had gotten from Friday himself some many days ago and why he now offered her up as a source worthy of detection.

The Captain. This was the only other name that came to mind but no one had seen him and there were lines... He would never send in a kid to talk to a potentially Lovecraftian monster.

"Everyone else seems to be a passenger. They only know what Friday has told them."

Problem.

If he said his fears about the Captain being a big bad Eldritch terror and some one that a kid should obviously stay away from then that would be the first place the boy would go. Humans were like that! You tell them not to do something and it was the first bloody thing they did!

Hey! The tree over there could grant you all the knowledge and wisdom in the universe, don't touch it ok? That's all it had taken the first time.

But... the boy was already thinking about the Captain so how to put him off that scent and onto something that probably wouldn't get him killed?

"I think most of the crew is made up of ghosts. I mean... have you seen anyone besides the Guest Services lady?"

People always think he is lying! Just because he is a demon... sheesh...

Anyway he wasn't this time. The ship was literally crawling with ghosts, largely unseen and in the background, but one could catch flashes of them from the corner of one's eye or in the darkness of the shadows if they were quick enough.

"You haven't seen them yet? Some detective, you've missed like the biggest clue!"

"Only a human can look directly at a ghost and go, oh that must have been a gust of wind!"

This had Crowley beaming like the high beams on his Bentley. That was absolutely amazing! Humans were wonderfully blind to the occult!

"Have you been to the Dining Room? Where does that unearthly, 'May I take your order?' come from if not from a ghost?"

"Well, when you figure out what's really going on let me know. I'd like to know what these fake ghosts actually are."

He was teasing a bit as for a demon it was no great stretch at all to believe in ghosts.
