MARCH OPEN LOG
[a soft chime of unplaceable music at 7 AM sharp. Friday's voice going over the daily weather (it never changes) and the daily schedule (it barely varies, though Friday does mention a "welcome party" set for later in the month with increasing amounts of poorly restrained glee. the mic is passed so that the captain can make his usual announcement. after a minute, it is passed back, so that Friday can wish everyone a fun and fulfilling day.
it's easy to fall into routine, on the serena eterna.
the spirits, or whatever they are, seem to have calmed down. they are still there, of course, but the plates are carried to tables instead of thrown, and any movement of the furniture is the kind that comes from normal use. wonder what they were so upset about. maybe someone talked to them.
an unfamiliar face in the hall balks at how their legs stop working suddenly. new passengers seem to arrive every other day or so, and it's always the same exact process. did you keep your lei?
the sun is shining. the air is warm. the sea is placid as a lake. you never meant to end up here. you certainly don't want to be here.
but, you can try to make the best of it.]
[ooc note: if any character decides to do some more than casual investigation of a location, be sure to ping the mod! there may be hidden treats! or hidden tricks! or maybe nothing! the best kind of prize is a SUR-PRISE!]

[Right, she found him. Time to open that escape hatch and -
Uh-oh.
He bangs on the slide. Then kicks it. A few more moments of silence, until he yells:]
I think the hatch only opens from outside.
no subject
Hatch?
[She glances out at the slide again, noting the loops, and...ah. She sees where a person could get trapped between them.]
You mean you're stuck!
[And she just can't help it--she laughs, sounding way too amused about this.]
no subject
No, no, fuck this shit, he's experiencing various other feelings right now, like humiliation and embarrassment and she's still laughing.]
Yes, I'm stuck!
[Another kick to the hatch. He came to terms with the fact that refusing to drink blood may leave him at disadvantage when things inevitably go wrong on the ship. But he didn't think he'd need super strength to break a waterslide.]
Just get down here and help me open it.
no subject
Alright, alright! Just stay there. And stay still!
[So she climbs back down to the deck, and.
Sure, she could go and find the hatch, but she can already tell which spot he's stuck in, and she could really use some stress relief from this stupid boat. So she considers the slide for a moment before making her choice.
Her choice being an earth spell. A few seconds go by as she casts, and then a stalagmite erupts from the ground, smashing right through one of the loops--
--and unfortunately sending the entire rest of the slide, including Natsuno, swinging out over the pool.]
no subject
Then the stalagmite tears through the slide and all hell breaks loose. His side of the slide shakes and tilts, sending Natsuno tumbling down through the newly-created hole. He yelps as he reaches for a handhold only to find empty air, falling down one level to hit one of the slide's open section. He yelps again on impact - that hurts! The slide keeps tilting as Natsuno finds his bearings, clinging to what's left of the structure.]
What the HELL, Rita -
[The slide groans, bolts and beams giving in. That part of the tube, as well as Natsuno, drop right into the pool.]
no subject
[Rita murmurs more to herself since it's not like Natsuno can hear her over everything else going on. That slide's construction was a lot weaker than she though--oh, there goes Natsuno into the pool. Rita dashes to the edge, peering into the water, but--it looks like the tube is on top of him?
Well, she isn't going to let him drown! Immediately, she stands to cast a water spell, something that will produce enough force to lift--or rather, launch--him to...safety, probably.]
no subject
But then he manages to poke his head from under the tube. Okay, he's okay, just stay calm and swim to the surface, it's not too far -
Only that instead of swimming, he flies up and out of the water, sailing through the air in an arc until he lands on the deck next to Rita like the catch of the day, coughing and sputtering.]
no subject
Sorry. Didn't think that thing would be so weak.
[She doesn't sound particularly sorry about it...]
no subject
Natsuno sits up to glare at her. It probably doesn't look impressive with him soaking wet, messy hair plastered to his face.]
Are you always this trigger happy with your magic?
[Behind them, another section of slide drops into the pool.]
no subject
You wanted out, didn't you?
[She glances over in time to see the splash. Yeah, take that, boat!]
no subject
[Ugh, whatever. He reaches into his pocket for the magnet.]
Hope your formula is waterproof.
no subject
Yeah...it doesn't look like it survived the water. I can just recast it for now. Developing a water-resistant version will take some more time.
no subject
Then in the meantime I'm gonna go dry off. [He looks at the wreckage.] Wonder if Friday's gonna say something.
no subject
[Okay, she's still sounding very obviously amused. She spares another glance at the wreckage and shrugs.]
So what if she does? If the captain can "do anything", surely he can fix it.
no subject
[He doesn't want to repeat the experience, but it is satisfying to see their creepy prison vessel damaged, even a little.]
Let me know when you're ready for another test. [...] No blasting me with magic.
no subject
Only as long as you don't get yourself stuck again.
