[ Because after all, Elysium is all set up now, with a cute table he dragged out of a closet, an hot water kettle he's set up on top with some freshly brewed tea in paper cups, some fries he dug out a resturant. He's got it all set up to kick back for a few hours, dispatch great wisdom, and maybe have his worldveiw totally rewritten. That's the exciting things about vacations, travel and people. You'll never know what might happen next!

So if you're strolling by, come say hi! God knows he'll try and wave just about everyone he can over to share a cup of tea. ]

It's good to get out of your comfort zone. [ Elysium's impression of Mizuki is that he's led a somewhat sheltered life, despite the fact the young man has a travel record almost as impressive as his own. ] Remember, everyone at Rhodes Island is supporting you...or at least I am! I'm like, the best subordinate ever, so you'll do great.

[ The rest of what Mizuki says is hm...not great! Unlike with Jinx though, Elysium forces himself to take it a bit more seriously. ]

I guess...this isn't the strangest thing I've ever heard of happening to people. Like when we had to rescue poor Phantom from that weird castle. Do you think its a situation like that?

[ “Sheltered.” “Spent most of his childhood in a cult.” It’s the same thing, really.

Anyway, Mizuki just gives an enthused nod at Elysium. He has been here the longest, so of the three Terrans here, he’s certainly the most apt to lead? But he doesn’t push that topic further if only because he should probably… ] Oh, perhaps I should have led with… we’re not [ in Kansas ] on Terra anymore.

[ …get that out of the way. ]

I think it’s a… um… this place is kind of in its own dimension of sorts…? Mmh… I’m not really sure how to explain it. I’m really not too smart with these sorts of things…

Huh... well I can't say I'm exactly surprised.

[ Elysium sighs, and his tone is unexpectedly serious, dropping the glib tone for just a moment. He looks away from Mizuki, out over the deck of the ship and onto the ocean. ]

A boat like this could never exist on Terra... they were all destroyed sixty years ago. Even the one in Drossoles wasn't this big.

[ As a kid, sometimes Elysium would get bored of sitting around a church and go mess around on beaches he wasn't supposed to. You could see the hulls of ships as vast as this stretching for miles off the coast. No explanations were ever forthcoming, but even a child can put things together. ]

Lets just call it an alternate dimension then. I don't need the science. There's a few confidential files I got read...erm...well its probably possible to travel to other dimensions, though I'm not sure how it appears to have happened to us without anything to trigger it!

[ In contrast, Mizuki keeps up his playful demeanor, reaching one of his hands up to play with the rim of one of the teacups that Elysium had set out. He’s not going to drink the tea, of course.

He might be a little more sympathetic to the shift in mood had Mizuki picked up on it at all, but he’s always had trouble picking up on tone and expressions. It’s why he also seems so chipper when he really shouldn’t be a lot of the time. ]

Oh no, it’s nothing we did. In fact, “we” are still back home. [ A “clink” as he flicks his finger against the glass fills the brief silence. ] What I mean to say is… this is an entirely new “us”!

[ Elysium doesn't mind at all. Honestly, this kind of melancholy reflection is lame and totally below him and he'd be embarrassed if any of his friends saw him worrying. So thanks Mizuki. Being such a good kid is basically why he knows Rhodes Island was right to take you on! ]

Huh... [ Not even Elysium can take that bit of info without a few moments of silence. He stares at his own tea, watches Mizuki play with the rim of his own cup. A new him? ]

That's...actually a huge relief! I'm a guy with so many responsibilities, its good to know I'm not shirking them. [ The captain isn't alone, and he's still there to help her. If he's gonna have any weird complicated feelings, he's just gonna focus on that fact, kaaay? ]

Well, nice to meet you for the first time then, Mizuki? Wooow this is weird to think about. Can you explain a little more why I'm here to hang out on a boat? I'm gonna enjoy my vacation, sure, but...

Hmm, well, we still don’t know all the details. It’s sort of a mystery!! But, um, as far as I know, the Captain uses souls as fuel for this dimension, as you called it. And so, that’s us!

[ Mizuki throws his arms up and does little jazz hands in the air. ]

But if we can figure out the Captain’s name, I think we won’t die or something like that??

Dude, not my soul? That's totally uncool.

[ Booo, down with this boat! ]

Wait though, hold up. That girl with the pink eyes totally told me we can't die here. She said you all had a battle royale, etc. So can we actually die on this boat, or is that against the rules of this place?

Oh, you spoke with Jinx? Careful with her, she might not like you as much if she finds out we’re friends.

[ She kind of hates Mizuki, actually. At least, that’s the impression he’d gotten from their last conversation? He isn’t too good at picking up on things like that, but he thinks that’s the case… ]

I don’t think we can kill one another, no. We just come back like that. But I think if our souls get used up, or if the captain gets bored of us, he can “get rid of us,” so to speak. Or a permanent death.

That’s the impression I get, anyway. I’m not actually sure how it works.

Oh, are you fighting with girls, Mizuki? Careful~

[ He can't help but winking in the other mans direction. What would the Doctor say if they knew~ ]

She seems troubled. Like Operator Lappland on a bad day...but I'm so charming, there's no way she'll hate me forever even if we're friends.

[ Elysium's just that kind of guy. He refuses to accept your feud with a cute girl, Mizuki! He'll ignore it now. ]

Weird as hell, and not like we can really do anything about it, huh? I guess I can't help it if a captain gets bored of perfection.

Oh, we’re not fighting. She’s just upset that I’m dating someone she likes. [ Does that count as fighting? It might, honestly. Anyway, he isn’t too fussed about it anymore. If someone to going to be upset with him for something so silly, it’s not really worth his time to fret over. ]

If there is something to be done about it, I wouldn’t know. There’s way smarter people on board who are trying to figure it out, though.

[ Nevermind ignoring it, this is getting better by the minute! A regular soap opera! ]

Ah—?! [ He’s said too much, apparently. ] I-it’s really not all that interesting! I’ve said all that there is to be said, I think??? [ The only relationship drama he’s invested in are with his waifus in his otomes, Elysium???? He doesn’t wanna deal with actual relationship drama!! ]

Listening to others, mostly! Playing video games in my downtime… oh, and getting to know the other passengers. They’ve really helped me figure out the answer to difficult situations. They’ve all had very fun answers to things like the trolley problem and the prisoners’ dilemma…!
