I don't want to stand as equals with one of them.
( and there's emphasis placed on that it—a sense of resentment that sticks to the word like tar. not with a human. it wasn't the problem that he was forced to kneel at all, though he would have kept a sense of distaste and shame around the action regardless of the fact. there is one thing though, one circumstance that would have made it bearable for him to endure no matter what humiliation he felt for having to do so.
if she would kneel beside him.
because it isn't the humans with whom he wants to be seen as equal. he has that. he had that. he hated the fact that that is what it has come down to for him; the fact that he is no better, no different from a human. to be "allowed", to be "commanded", he's little better than the mortals who should worship pollux. she's deserving of that, doubtlessly—even those very same mortals had agreed when they allowed her to keep the divine blood of zeus that flows through her veins. he doesn't want to think that his sister, though, that pollux would think of him in the same way...
he breathes a sigh. )

the sea has always been beautiful like their home among the stars.
she drops her hand from his cheek down to her sides as she turns to face the ocean as well, her heart heavy, and it sinks steadily in the depth of the water as it manages to avoid any curious creatures from nibbling against the already jagged edges. )
Brother.
( she forgoes her sadness for another feeling, determined to prove to her other half that she understands where the mistake had gone. castor may reject the idea that comes to mind, insisting that it's a problem or think that pollux doesn't understand. her actions belated as they were brings her to bend her knees down onto the ship's surface, and a hand settles over her heart as she looks up to him with a warm smile. )
I'll bring my knees down upon the same deck as you, and I want to offer the same words you did not too long ago... I'm sorry, Big Brother.
( never would he blame her, she know he wouldn't, but that doesn't stop her from letting those words slip past her lips like a waterfall. better that than tears that have yet to bead up in the corner of her eyes, saving those for another occasion. she understands her brother's words when he says them when it's best said he wants to stand with her, be by her side, and her request mixed with an outside force taking that from him had been unfair.
she saw to that, but had elysium never spoke it would have never went to that extent. pollux is better than that, better to her brother, and here she's pushed him into a corner that reopens old wounds— she will always think of him as a god, a brother, and so much more as she's tethered to him for support, as he is to her. )
We are meant to do everything together, just the both of us... I'm only a little late.
( but after this, she'll be on time, moving at the same pace as him. )
no subject
that's probably why he looks so alarmed when he understands what she's trying to do here.
so her knees don't hit the deck, actually. she doesn't even make it that far. instead, castor has grabbed onto her upper arm, pulling her back up and into himself the moment that he saw her begin to bend her knees— wrapping his arms around her, he keeps her firmly on her feet as she holds her against him. even in the naturally low sound of his own voice, the surprise—near panic is almost audible. )
There's no need for that!
( his fingers curl into the fabric that wraps loosely around her body, and he can't help himself, a sigh passes his lips as well. resting his chin against the top of her head, which he isn't actually that much taller than her, but she was already halfway to the ground when he pulled her up against him, so... even still, there's a sweet fragrance that hangs in the air around her, and it's that he focuses on while he tries to gather his thoughts. )
I would never ask that of you. Together. Do you understand me, Sister? I don't want you to kneel before me—we will both stand proud, side by side.
( he says it with conviction in his voice. still... still... give him a moment after, and he'll continue something softer, something gentler, meant to reassure. )
What's done is already done. I don't need an apology.
no subject
with his chin on her head, she stays in place thinking over the situation that had led to this to begin with— she leans into him, her arms raise to wrap around the width of his body as her hands settle at the small of his back. gently, her nails scratch into the fabric of his attire, massaging the area slowly as she thinks over what to say next. her brother has always been like this when it comes to them, and no matter what she does there's no way to change these quirks of his. it's true, it's always felt better when they've done things together. )
Brother, it's because I love you that I usher an apology.
( it's an apology only meant for his ears, and she doesn't try again when he appears insistent on not having one in the first place. he's warm, and it makes her want to doze off in his arms like normal when they're pressed this close. people seek comfort in their homes, or through food, but being in his arms calms down any worries that might have festered from that problem from before. elysium who? )
That look you made... It's not something I wish to ever witness again. I want to see you happy, that's what matters to me.
no subject
( it makes him feel kind of pathetic, actually, to know he had a look on his face that left such an impression on her. even so, it's the same. it comes down to the very same answer. if the problem was the situation that caused that embarrassment, then the answer is to simply not be in that situation. it's preferable to any alternative in his eyes; he won't make excuses, he won't whine and complain about what happened, but with their gaze facing ever forward, the two of them can move on from it together. )
I would never ask an apology from you, Sister. We are one and the same, and everything we do is together—I can understand you even without those words.
( he can understand that she's sorry, sure, but that's only a small part.
he can understand that she loves him. just as much as castor loves her. he can understand that she meant no harm, and that she would not repeat such harm if she knew how it came about. he can understand that he has this trust in her. that no matter what, they will always remain the dioscuri, the gemini—the twins. and so, putting it into words isn't necessary. all that matters to him is the warmth of her in his arms and the knowledge that already, the starlight is peeking through the clouds of this storm, shining down on them and illuminating their way forward. )
no subject
( does he court in his mind with her and others, yes, he's done this before with heracles, but it was nothing so clear cut. has she gave off the impression of being interested in him? did it seem as though her heart was connected to a fellow crewmate of the argo? that worries her, for castor knows her heart would never waver in these sorts of instances, but she can't help but wonder what was it about elysium that made her brother hesitate. )
You understand me without words, every breath that I offer, you know the meaning is that it's meant to be in sync with yours. I live to be by you, Brother.
( she shouldn't have to ask, but this is common thoughts from her twin, and one that she always has to get down to the bottom to when it arises. for years they have held hands in space, floating here and there as they watched over the world with their light shining down on them, and appearing to help them when the storms were rough, and the clouds threaten to take their lives.
there's a small pout as her hands now settle on the side of his arms so that she can try and look up at him. )
Or... did you think he was perfect for me.
( which is... ...
the man rejected her, which will sting even more. )
no subject
( still, as he's about to continue, he seems to catch himself. quiet for a moment as he considers how to express it, the possibilities that ran through his mind, and the carelessness that had led to the situation they found themselves in. he may not want to loosen his hold on her, and he may not want to take that risk that she would pull away, but... as she does so, he looks down to meet her eyes; the sincerity in his own is striking, if disheartened. )
But it's not my place to make those decisions for you... If there was even the slightest chance...
( if it were even faintly possible that the other could be telling the truth... so much as castor would hate it, as much as he would disagree—it would change everything. after all, castor understands full well that such a thing would mean that killing him on the spot would've been doing something even more terrible to his sister. in the choice between two evils—one where he wounded her pride, and one where he wounded her heart—did he not choose the one that appeared lesser if he were to be mistaken? )
no subject
( to say there won't be anyone else is difficult, if her brother, somehow finds someone to his liking then that's how things are. she would be happy for him, it would turn into a normal relationship thereafter, and she would accept the person that managed to sway her brother's heart.
zeus had said their love was unparalleled, and nothing could sever them— that love will always remain no matter who her brother chooses.
though, it is not her place to take him away from what he wants in that manner. she's meant to love him, and his actions, and his decisions. )
Listen to me, Brother. You would know where my heart lies, and when it wavers! He had rejected me, and I am no good wife for him either.
( there has been talk of human and servant relationships before, but she doesn't fit in that qouta with someone so frivolous. his actions and words would cause a tremor in her heart, and she couldn't imagine being with someone without...
oh those thoughts, those aren't proper thoughts. )
I cannot imagine an instant without you unless I'm doing something personal.
no subject
did she just give him permission to kill men on-sight because she's not deciding on a loverboy without him? sooooooo true pollux. this is deeply reassuring, if a little confusing for castor who has been held on a tight leash with regards to this kind of thing. obviously he's not about to go full lostbelt, but even just being assured that "no, brother, i won't be making these choices without you"—that's enough for him.
so, slowly, the beginnings of a smile start to creep back onto his face. )
Then there's no problem.
( a beat. )
Well, except the problem of him, I suppose.
( god pollux why did you not let him show that guy what happens when you reject pollux dioscuri. )
no subject
she'll pull herself out of castor's arms, hands on her hips with a shake of her head. )
Whatever you're thinking, do not conflate it, Brother. Rather, that part of the conversation doesn't exist anymore.
( she's changing her mind due to who knows what's going on in his head, no, she knows exactly what's going on in there. it's no good aside from having an advantage in choice, but nothing else should be rattling in there. )
Elysium did no wrong either, I believe he didn't understand me when I asked was he our Master at the time. He certainly was interested in another version of the same roles, but it is odd to be called "Master" in his rather... intricate mind.

...
......
.........
castor turns on his heel, glancing to pollux. )
I'll be back, Sister. You wait here. I'll make sure he isn't able to have such misunderstandings anymore.
no subject
Brother, you haven't learned a thing.
( the laugh that leaves past her lips genuine, and even the smile too. )
We make decisions together like you said, and that means we're at an impasse.
no subject
it's hard for him to protest too much though, all things considered. her smile, her laugh—he can't exactly do something that would cause her to be sad when she's so happy right now, now can he? so it's a bit reluctant, but glancing to the side... )
Y-yeah.
( hesitates. gives her a look like, "can we make the decision together to kill elysium?" )
no subject
( it's with a tug that she pulls him down to her level, making sure that his ear is next to her lips— the heat of her breath, the soft inhale. her voice softens, )
I won't kill him when he's someone you can learn to get along with.
( an obvious secret as she presses a kiss against the male's ear before pulling away. )
Don't tell anyone, okay?
