The set up is not much different from last time, with food and drinks set up at tables on the side of the stage that can be rearranged for when it's time to do something more creative. The difference a prop wall has been pulled onto to the stage, proudly displaying everyone's flags.

Grab a drink and some food and be ready to reconnect with your marvelous mates!

[ Darcy the Kestrel will go very bright red very quickly is what she'll do. ]

Uh- I mean, like, boxing isn't- I'm pretty good at it but I'm not like- I don't really have? Cool moves? I've been focusing more on my core technique.

[ Darcy coughs and hops down from the stage rather quickly to continue the conversation without being up in front of everyone. ]

I'd love to see your core technique sometime!

( she has no problems with talking to her on the stage, but when she comes down pollux will find herself right next to her. there's a warm smile on her face, delighted despite her embarrassment. )

Besides, anything you do is really cool if you put your mind to it! Even going up on that stage and telling us about yourself, hehe.

It really wasn't that cool, it was just. Whatever. You know, Stede asked us and-

[ It's Fine this is fine and normal. Darcy can navigate this conversation. ]

I don't think I got your name, sorry.

It was impressive, not a hint of stage fright to be seen!

( is she coming off too strong, should she dial it back some when talking? pollux does come off much kinder than her brother, and she doesn't want make the other uncomfortable. that would be bad, but there's nothing wrong with asking for a name so she obliges easily. )

I am Pollux, and with my brother Castor, we make up the Dioscuri. If he was by my side, he'd tell you in a more admirable manner, so I hope my version'll do.

I've done way scarier shit than get up on stage and say my own name.

[ Which is probably a mistake to admit because it'll encourage questions, but Darcy can burn that bridge when she gets to it. ]

Oh- you're Izzy's roommate. He's mentioned you.

[ Said they were gods, but that bit Darcy's refusing to look at directly until she absolutely have to. ]

And I think... did you do like, a ritual for Jenny on the beach or something?

( it does invite questions, many run through pollux's mind, but she waits her turn for what that may be. it'd be remiss of her if she ignored what's being said to her now in favor of the other, and as long as they can make conversation they're able to learn a little about each other. )

Oh, has he! Well, I'm happy I'm someone he can talk about then...

( really, she didn't think there was much about her to speak about from how terrified he was of her, but maybe he's becoming comfortable around her. that sounds better than anything else she could ask for at this moment. )

I wish you could have come, then we could have met sooner! This way is fine, though. Me and my brother organized the sacrifice to honor her, but for it to save her from death... That was pretty shocking, but Brother always reminded me that something good would come from it, who would have known it was that?

He didn't really say much, [ Because it's true, they only spoke about the Dioscuri when it was late and Darcy was regretting her first experience with alcohol. ]

I'm not... big on ritual animal sacrifice? [ The count for sentences she's only ever had to say on this ship ticks up again, ] but we probably would've met eventually anyway, this ship is fucking tiny. It... yeah, she's lucky you did it.

[ Since Darcy still doesn't know how much of the mission she's allowed to talk about still. ]

Are you joining the crew, or...?

( that seems to be the case for most people, but she'll slip that into darcy having a weak stomach. besides, even their conversation has random beats where she seems more nervous than having confidence in herself. what she appears to have that's better than some others is she hears nothing judgemental in her words which are pleasant to pollux's ears. )

Is she a friend of yours? There's many on this boat who want nothing to do with her, and others who hope for her success.

( it's a casual question just to get an idea of how darcy views her, but it's the next question that makes pollux silent, thinking it over. )

My job within a crew is active as long as we journey across the seas, so we'll always watch over you Darcy.

[ Darcy's about to answer about Jenny when Pollux makes the statement about watching over her and wow, look at that, having to look too hard at the fact that her and Castor are Gods. ]

Please don't- [ It's said all at once far too quickly, ] I'm already spoken for like, religiously, and the dude really isn't big on sharing. So.

[ The benedictine medal in her pocket seems to metaphorically burn, and Darcy really, really hopes that Pollux is happy enough to just move on. ]

Jenny isn't really a friend or anything, but like. I don't hate her or anything, I just kind of don't know her.

( this isn't the first time she's heard someone be more... attached to the god that they have, unsure if another one can watch over them— well, darcy seems to have made up her mind. her statement catches pollux for a moment as she tries to decide her feelings on the matter, as it is her right as a patron of sailors to watch over those who cross the sea. she won't frown from the rejection, but rather than make it a big thing— )

Very well, but please know that if you require anything, the Dioscuri will always hear you out.

( a hand placed to her chest, settled over her heart as she decides on her own that she'll still follow her reason for existing to help the other if she ever decides to take it. )

Do you wish to know her properly? Thanks to certain efforts, we've been given the chance to live side by side; it's exciting really. ( and then it comes to her, ) Ah! Let's sit and have tea, we can converse over snacks.

[ Darcy's quietly relieved that Pollux doesn't put up any argument, and she smiles gratefully at her polite acceptance. ]

Sure- I mean, I've already eaten, but I'll have tea. I... I mean, she seems cool, I've just heard shit about her that makes me not exactly want to invite her to my birthday, ehn?

[nyktifanis]

I've heard a few stories myself, but when you think about her reasons, the attempt at sinking the ship made sense. ( she'll lead darcy along with her towards one of the tables, picking up two cups so she can choose which tea she'd want to try first. perhaps something with flower petals if they have it, but a hint of cinnamon to burn the tongue sounds nice too. she can never choose when it comes to flavors. )

A person will do anything to have the person they care for back.

( does she fault her for her methods? no, because there's various individuals who could have done worse in order to obtain their family. with a soft chuckle, she turns to darcy with a smile. )

How about this: we return her family to her, and then we can invite her to your next birthday. Deal?

[ Darcy follows along, sitting and getting herself a simple cup of green tea. She blinks at the mention of her birthday before connecting the dots, and raising a hand to her mouth to stifle a laugh. ]

It was like- I just meant that some of what I've heard is not really flattering. The whole 'murdering everyone aboard' thing. It was an expression. I'm not having a birthday party.

[ Darcy shakes her head and takes a small sip of her tea. ]

It just means we know we can't really trust her, anyway. I don't have siblings, but I don't think even if I did I'd go that far to get them back.

( pollux follows suit, taking a sip as she allows the flavor to rest on her tongue. there's a happy, little hum that leaves past her lips afterwards.

her gaze lifts to meet darcy's own at her comment before looking at the others within the room. )

I can't say that isn't upsetting to hear, but... would you do anything to get back the people you love? I see it as she wouldn't give up, and so there was no worse option as long as it worked.

( small sip, ) She can be trusted as long as you work with her.

Except it didn't work. If it had worked, Jenny wouldn't still be looking for her brothers. And yeah she got free, but she's back here anyway. If I murdered everyone aboard for the people I care for, then I wouldn't be the person they cared for in the first place. You have to be willing to do anything for the people you care about but... it has to actually work. You can't just murder a bunch of people and say you're doing it for the people you care about if it doesn't actually help them. That just makes you a monster.

[ Darcy shakes her head, worrying the handle of her cup with her thumb. ]

When you're working with someone is when you need to trust them the most, anyway. That's not how it works.

She's not a monster for acting off her emotions, if she didn't have them wouldn't that make her more of a monster?

( really, these things don't have to work at all, it's the simple fact that she wanted them back so bad that she was willing to go that far. it's endearing, and it's not like humans aren't capable of following in her steps, there has been multiple individuals who have gone far as to do something drastic.

it's called taking a chance than doing nothing. )

What she did may not have worked, but love removes all senses of what's right and what's wrong. A person will try anything, especially when they're desperate. It's... a painful feeling. ( but darcy must have been here during that moment in time, and so the wounds are probably still fresh when it was her loved ones that were threatened at jenny's actions. pollux keeps this in mind, nodding afterwards. ) But your feelings are just as important since that was a terrifying time for you as well. Both sides hurting and their actions amounting to nothing makes it worse.
