and when your fears subside
Who: Friday + OTA
What: the aftermath
When: November 1st
Where: Around
[the Captain watches the straggling survivors of the Halloween party pick themselves up and leave with a completely impassive expression. it remains on his face as he stats to step through the debris, carefully moving his way through until he’s found himself beside Friday’s corpse. he regards her for a long moment.
then, he nudges her with his foot.]
Get up. You have work to do.
[her body stirs at the touch, and she, slowly and awkwardly, pulls herself up into a sitting position. she touches the drying blood on her skin, regards the destruction and death around her… she turns her head up to look at him.]
… What did you…
[he laughs] Me? Not a thing. This would be your mess, Galatea.
[he drops to crouch next to her, smirking.]
You know how to ward me out. A coke-addled bimbo should have been a cakewalk. Even a witchy one. Try harder next time.
[he taps her cheek.]
Good luck.
[and he leaves her there, to sit, dazed and confused. though, he does seem to take some form of pity on her. overnight, all structural damage to the Serena Eterna is fixed. deck six exists where deck six should be, and not on deck five. any Ebalon-shaped holes in the walls are fixed.
it’s just everything else he leaves for her.
the early hours of November are spent ferrying corpses around the ship, collecting them in the morgue to settle before taking them to their cabins to wake. she takes particular care to return each and every one of them to their beds, and is done well before wake-up time. it’s after then that she finds herself in the atrium, quietly taking in everything around her.]
… Well! Time to get to work!
[the rest of the day, you can find Friday pretty much anywhere you look on the ship, setting right the lengthy list of destruction wrecked by the passengers in her month+ absence. some things are done by hand, including most of the cleaning of broken objects and gore, but others are “simply” magicked away, and there doesn’t seem to be any real rhyme or reason for why that happens.
Mizuki may notice that Jenny isn’t returned to their cabin. everyone else may notice that they won’t see her at all that first day.]

...
cheerfully:] I don't know what that means!
no subject
Means I'm happy to see you. The actual you.

[the actual you...]
... Um, I'm really sorry for the awful month you guys seem to have had! I should've been working harder!
no subject
[a frown]
Feel like I should have figured it out sooner. I just... thought you were having a bad month, with everything falling apart.

[shakes head] Gosh, if I hadn't made sure the load-bearing sigils were doing okay before I did anything else... Everybody could be gone forever right now!
no subject
... I'd hate being gone forever. But I guess if I were gone forever I wouldn't have much opinion on it, huh. [quietly shifts from one foot to the other]
Did you go to the nothing?
no subject
[and that's it that was the only topic]
no subject
[steps bit closer, because the lack of answer seems to be enough of one] Did you know it was like that? Is that what you tried to warn me of?
no subject
a slow nod.]

It'd be nice if there could be... But, there isn't. So, it's better to just forget all about it!

Skulduggery told her to speak to the Captain about it. and she still doesn't think she's the person to try. it's too big, too important, and she's... bad at convincing anyone of much at all. not even Jenny would listen to her.
but speaking of.]
How's Jenny? Have you two... had a chance to speak yet?

It was hard convincing her that you couldn't be you.

[pause]
It's... okay! She's not mad; she's not even mad at Madison about it! [she was told about it and basically went "yeah that was fair"]
no subject
Were they always like that? That crew.
no subject
[pauses. a deep sigh.]
... Yeah, pretty much always!

Pickles said... all their excursions ended in death, that they were killing each other all the time. Was that... intentional? Why didn't they get a nice camp or beach trip?

Why? It wasn't part of the instructions, like the Battle Royale?
