Who: Tear's diary, and you!
What: Tear lost her diary, and passengers can stumble across it. May probably also dump future closed or open starters here??
Where: Around the ship!
When: November.

[ passengers may notice a small book lying around, seemingly misplaced. there's
no name on it except for a label which reads "personal journal" on the front.
do they open it and to find out who it belongs to? people searching for a name
on the first page will find that it's blank. why write your name if you don't plan on
losing it in the first place, right? ]

Yes, that's correct. I take it he told you about it?
no subject
I see. And that expedition was done on behalf of the captain, right?
[ how friendly the skeleton seemed to be with the captain was bizarre. honestly, if it weren’t for natsuno telling her the captain can’t create living things she’d be suspicious of skullduggery being a creation of his. ]
You must be awfully close with him, to be doing favours like that. Why did you bring the Colonel along with you too?
no subject
It was at his request, yes. [he closes his book and folds his hands over it in his lap. whoops! he seems to have missed the part about him being awfully close to the Captain!] I asked Jade to assist me due to his previous experiences, his magical capabilities, and his trustworthiness.
no subject
although confirming it was at the captain’s request is enough for her to build assumptions on. ]
What do you know about the Colonel’s experiences? Why would you say that he’s trustworthy?
[ surprise flits briefly across her expression before she goes back to her usual stoicism. he must know a lot about jade, huh? ]
no subject
He and I developed a rapport over our magical differences, and part of that involves sharing stories about home. I've found him to have a good sense of judgment, and as far as I know, he hasn't spilled a single one of my many dark secrets.
[ha ha ha!!! it's a joke!!! he doesn't have dark secrets, remember, he's just a silly skeleton!!!]
Is there... a reason you're interrogating me? Which you're doing a great job of, by the way.
no subject
[ she doesn’t take it as a joke. instead, her eyes grow bright with recognition as she recalls some snatches of writing in jade’s journals: mentionings of the skeleton having a lot of information on the captain, notes on skullduggery’s magic, and.. ]
What’s the Erda Flow?
[ in another scenario, she would have been flustered by his compliment — in a more friendly atmosphere, in a different time. instead, she keeps her gaze on him, cold and serious. ]
Is that where you get your magic from?
[ she remembers jade being confused about it in his notes, but can’t recall everything she’d read in jade’s journals clearly enough, having only skimmed them while
completely trashinginvestigating jade’s cabin with clarke. ]no subject
I get my magic from my name. Technically. ...It's complicated. But no, that one isn't mine. It technically isn't even the Captain's, really, but he seems to have found some use for it.
no subject
unlike jade, tear doesn't have some bizarrely perfect memory. ]
I see... I must have misread something, then. I didn't realize he'd written them as separate points.
[ the "from his name" bit was interesting, but not the point of being here. ]
How much do you know about the Colonel exactly, anyway? You say he knows your secrets... I worry if you know any of his.
no subject
If you're worried that I'm going to misuse Jade's trust, I promise you that isn't the case. Anything he tells me in confidence will remain with me. [which is a fun way of saying: "he's said enough that I don't feel comfortable leaking any of it!"]
no subject
The one about your skull.
[ he probably sounds surprised that she's seen them... but, well,
it's not like jade let her read any of it either.
actually, since they're talking about trust and dark secrets, she should
probably clarify that sometime in the future huh? ]
I'll hold you to that. Don't think for even a second that I won't act if I
find out you've betrayed or hurt him.

Sorry. I saw the journals the Colonel was keeping about his experiments on you.
How your clothing stays on, and how the hinge of your jaw moves…
It wasn’t because he wanted me to see them, though.
[ does he know she and clarke trashed jade’s room? Hmm ]
… It was an accident that I saw them.
no subject
Experiments is a funny way to put it... But, that's alright. Accidents happen. It sounds like it really was just a glimpse, anyway.
[he remains blissfully unaware of the teenage rebellion... for now!!!]
u can ignore this if u want!!! QQ i just remembered i didnt reply before hiatus
she frowns up at him. ]
In either case, that still leaves the question: how would you define your relationship with the Colonel? To share secrets and allow him to experiment on
you ...
[ did that count as a friendship? or was it something more like a
mad scientist and his lab rat ... ]
H O W could i ignore this???
It'd help if I knew what experiments you were referring to exactly... But when you put it like that, it does make it sound like we're fairly close, doesn't it? Hopefully not too close for your tastes! [ha ha ha, heheheh. RIP to jade but this is hilarious!!]
no subject
[ she stares at him, her expression carefully calm as she waits for an answer.
maybe if he tells her, she’ll talk more about the experiments? ]
no subject
It just seems to me that you're a bit possessive of him. I can understand why, of course. He's the sort of man that inspires unknowing loyalty.
no subject
that way. jade, of all people? inspiring unknowing loyalty?? ]
His reputation is ... definitely different on this ship. I can't imagine him
ever being described like that back home.
[ she wonders if he knows skullduggery sees him this way ...
then again, jade could absolutely be capable of leading people --
if he stopped joking about poising everyone's meals. ]
I wouldn't say I'm possessive of him, though. Just concerned for his well-being.
no subject
[something about not having the weight of home bearing down on you...]
Regardless of his reputation back home, he's proven himself to be someone others rely on. He's made good friends with a number of rambunctious teenagers, not to mention rambunctious adults. [he points at himself when he says it, in case she doesn't know who he's referring to...]
no subject
[ she smiles a little now, the line of her shoulders relaxing. ]
I still don't exactly trust you, but at least now I know your feelings towards
the Colonel are genuine.
[ he made some good points, and she'd vaguely threatened him, so that's
good enough for her. ]
Just don't let him experiment on you too much.
no subject
[a solemn nod, as if he isn't going to die laughing asking Jade about experimenting with him...]
Oh, no. I try to limit all experimenting. It's a real workout.
