APRIL EVENT: YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME (EPILOGUE)
[one by one, they are brought out of the dream, finding themselves in a brightly lit world of sand and broken glass, of familiar faces and audible relief.
as they pass through the crew quarters, they may notice that some tubes seem to be unoccupied, merely sand and empty air.
when they finally push open the heavy door, they find themselves on deck zero. the familiar terrain of the Serena Eterna. they never really left at all.
it is still and quiet; none of the usual ghostly presences can be found anywhere on the ship; in fact, it seems as if there’s barely enough of… whatever it is to keep the lights on, and they’ll find that all internal locations are dimly lit, making it difficult to search them. and they will be searching.
because Fio wasn’t in any of the tubes.
and neither was the Captain.
and Sparkles is somewhere to be found.]

And what was the way you heard it?

The way you said it!

[Beat. She looks at him suspiciously.]
What's a beazel? You better not be making fun of me with made-up insults...

[ And bold words from someone who willingly associates with Jade Curtiss. ]
Allow me to put what I meant to say more plainly, then. Life is long and difficult. Simple pleasures make it bearable. You gain no superiority over anyone by denying yourself them.
no subject
Hmph! I don't deny them, you know. I'm just saying there's a time and place--having them here is just...weird!
[You know, she says while still carefully holding that biscuit.]

objection!
Hey. Haven't you ever heard of comfort food? It absolutely is.
omg yes, perfect way for them to meet
[Yes, those are the words coming out of her mouth even before she realizes the speaker is...a dog. She blinks, though she knows there are shapeshifters on the boat...
She's not actually the biggest fan of dogs. Cat person and all.]
Maybe to a dog, but people don't eat for comfort!
[And clearly she's an expert??]
no subject
Good thing there's a cat here then, chilling out, making a nuisance of itself, and trying to con pats out of everyone present ]
no subject
Oh, a kitty. Meow...
[She reaches down to give him a pet.]

And if it makes eye contact with Ossie for just long enough to almost imperceptibly convey amusement, well that's absolutely nobody's business ]
no subject
Aw, there's a good kitty... You're so much smarter than some dumb dog, aren't you?

You don't know what-- you're kidding?
Okay, first of all, I'm a man that can sometimes turn into a dog. But, I'm definitely a human. Second, and most importantly, people absolutely do eat food for comfort. Literally all the time. Where have you even been?
I love his food priorities ahaha
Hey, if you turn into a dog, then you have a dog-brain! Just because you'll eat anything someone puts in front of you and get all excited over it, that doesn't mean any normal person does.
he's basically kronk with the spinach puffs rn
And I was obsessed with food WAY before I learned how to turn into a dog. I went to culinary school and everything, so I actually am an expert on this. If anyone isn't normal here, it's you for insisting people don't get comfort from food. That's just completely false.
Haven't you ever gone for an ice cream when you feel sad? If not, we should definitely go. You have no idea what you are missing.
no subject
[She shrugs, then crosses her arms as she maintains her denial.]
I've had ice cream, but not because I feel sad--that's just weird. Who eats just because they feel bad? Maybe that's why you turned into a dog, you know.

[She actually nearly drops the biscuit as she takes a step back, holding out a hand.]
That's not what I--if you even try to hug me, you're dead! Don't you dare!
And I love her!!
♥!
[It's an incredibly stupid argument, but yes, she sure is getting loud and screechy over it!]

[ He snaps his fingers and the biscuit... sprouts tiny biscuity legs and scampers off the napkin and out of her reach. ]
Table's closed until you learn to keep unkind remarks to yourself.
