[Open] > Nepeta: Engage in various shenanigans.
Who: Nepeta Leijon, OTA
When: September
Where: All over
What: Typical cat behaviors, drawings, shipping, pummeling training dummies, and inadvisable investigation of flowers
Warnings: To be added as relevant
What's a cat girl troll to do on a cursed cruise ship? Well, quite a lot of things in fact.
1. just cat things
a) The weather is pretty much always sunny on the Serena Eterna, which means plenty of sunbeams to nap in. On any given day you might spot Nepeta contentedly basking on one of the outer decks -- possibly sprawled out right where you were hoping to walk. You couldn't possibly wake her though, could you? Look how cute she is.
b) At other times, you might find her chasing a crumpled paper ball or a small stuffed plush toy down one of the halls, batting it ahead of her and then pouncing on it as it slides across the floor. Or perhaps perched somewhere high up to watch people go by. (How did she even get up there?)
2. just girl things
a) There are art books in the library now! Nepeta's going through them one at a time, admiring and occasionally attempting to copy the contents with her own set of crayons. She is not doodling additions to the pictures, despite being very tempted.
b) Oh and there's a training dummy! Always an excellent thing for keeping in practice, especially when there's nothing to hunt. Chasing crumpled paper is fun, sure, but sometimes you want something closer to your own size to practice pouncing and clawing and otherwise attempting to murder. The fact that it's unbreakable is just a bonus, really; it means she can go all-out. (Which might be a little terrifying to watch if you haven't seen her in combat before.)
c) She's also got some handicrafts to work on, in her spare time. Which is to say, there's a whole bunch of horse leg bones, brought back from the last excursion by Siffleur. Right now she's got the lot spread out on a table in the library, deciding what to make from them. Feel free to offer suggestions, or horrified commentary, or whatever else seems likely.
3. just troll things
a) Sometimes Nepeta might take advantage of the broad tables in the formal dining room, especially since nobody's using it for formal dining anymore, and spread out some sketches of potential updates to her shipping wall. Generally she'll try to do this when there's no one else around, but she might not notice you? Or she might ask for suggestions.
b) Are those flowers starting to sprout around the ship? They don't look like anything that grows on Alternia, and Nepeta's never seen any Earth vegetation close up. This calls for investigation! Starting with that pretty bright orange one ...
[Unaware that lilies can be very dangerous for cats, Nepeta is sniffing an orange lily and will fall desperately in hate with somebody. Maybe several somebodies. Maybe you! If that doesn't sound like fun, you might come upon Nepeta after she's been sniffing at the ivy, and find her to be compulsively cuddly in catlike fashion. Over the course of the month, further flower shenanigans may be added.]

Except both the mother and the child are cats.
no subject
Hushed: "Can cats really do that?"
She's never seen one behave like that, but maybe they do in Nepeta's colony! (If maybe-cat-humans have colonies.)
no subject
She turns the page and says "S33, this one isn't." And indeed, of the two figures (cats) in the painting, one is wearing nothing but a bangle bracelet, a flower, and a ribbon around her neck.
no subject
"I knew it," she says, satisfied. "Most animals don't. Just humans."
Humans, after all, are animals too.
no subject
"And trolls," she points out.
no subject
She tries to play it off: "Yeah, and trolls," she agrees. "Obviously."
no subject
"... I like yours," she offers, a little awkwardly.
no subject
Puzzled: "My -- ?"

Her smile grows.
"I like yours too. Your jacket's really nice."
no subject
She doesn't have to correct her new friend's terminology, she decides, even though the difference should be clear: jackets are short and longcoat is long.

In theory, she knows humans (and trolls) have to make their clothes separately from themselves, but in practice, she has no idea where to even start.
no subject
And she launches into an explanation involving both complicated technological methods like the ALCHEMITER and extremely simple technological methods like hunting gigantic beasts, killing them, tanning their hides, and sewing the resulting leather into shape with needle and thread.
no subject
She tries to interrupt at a few points to clarify things. Killing beasts and sewing their hides, that's easy, she definitely gets that. But the ALCHEMITER is completely beyond her, as becomes obvious rather quickly when she looks more and more bewildered with each word.

What? All trolls have tails and all trolls clearly talk via constant cat puns. Nimona has to blend in!
no subject
no subject
And realizes, within a heartbeat, that that was definitely the wrong thing to say.
no subject
She stops, blinks at Nimona, eyes going wide.
"Did ... did you not have a lusus?"
no subject
It's worse than before; so much worse, because she has no idea what Nepeta's talking about. It's clearly something important; something everyone who's a real troll must have.
And Nimona doesn't, because she isn't a real troll and never will be.
She panics. Sometimes, she's learned, it's better to run away first before they chase you -- and so she runs the best she knows how: by collapsing back into that pink streak of light and darting out of the library as fast as she can.
no subject
But it's too late; the ribbon of light is gone, and her new friend with it.
