END GAME: THE COUNTDOWN STARTS

[the prisoners wake up on cold, hard floors.

the lights are bright, glaring, a sterile cell with sterile bars facing a sterile hall. the prisoners with you, across from you, and no one else. no rocking of a ship in waves, nothing. just the prisoner and their prison.

time passes, one assumes. the rhythmic click of Friday’s heels down the hall. it’s almost like the ticking of a clock.]

We could have put a copy of April on it...

[Ah well, the road not traveled and all that. Flan sniffles and just brings her knees up to her chest.] yeah, totally. like... it's not totally hopeless while we're still able to think.

once we're mind controlled? that might be it. I really hope it's not the type of mind control where you're totally aware of what your body's doing the whole time 'cause that type suuuuuucks.

If she was going to put us under mind control she would have done so already, don't you think? Or drug us if the idea was to keep us docile, if we looked like any sort of threat.

( we call this personal growth over two years of being stuck on the weirdest cruiseliner of all time; one little apocalypse human talking like she's got any authority or real idea what she's on about. and yet — to clarke it all makes sense. )

Look, if we're stubborn enough to survive dying over and over again, we can survive this.
