[ Is she trusting her weapons training to someone who could be one of her students?

Yes.

Because she's on a crazy ship in a crazy galaxy somewhere in the chaotic universe. It feels like she should take any and all opportunities to learn how to defend herself here. ]

I'm in, then. So in. When and where do I show up?

We'll meet up at the Sporting Deck. As to when, whenever I get more bullets. Kinda on empty since I used 'em during the excursion.

(there's a bit of a sheepish look. it's embarrassing to be so bare and exposed like this.)

— But don't worry!! No Face gives me bullet gifts so they might be on the way.

[makemeasong]

I'm sure I'll be here. [ She frowns a little. ]

Do you think Friday's working with the Captain or just trying not to be on his bad side?

[opheliac]

Wait, you haven't heard? She's like his lil' puppet...thing. Y'know, controllin' her to some extent.

(jinx pushes herself off the table to give herself a stretch.)

But she has a mind of her own, too. Like feelings and all that junk.

[makemeasong]

[ Oh. ] I mean, I figured she had to do what he said but I didn't know if she was maybe...trying to help us too. Somehow, in her own way.

[opheliac]

She's been givin' us hints here and there, yeah. — But if she's been doin' more than that, I couldn't tell ya. No Face hates my guts so I'd be the last to know.

(who knew a puppet like person could hold grudges over something that happened months ago?)

Uh oh. Why? I mean, you don't have to say, but now I'm super curious. [ Nosy. ]

[opheliac]

I killed her girlfriend.

(straight-forward with no fear.)

But she came back so it's no real biggie. 'Sides, she started the beef first, y'know? Don't pick a fight if you can't handle it.

Wait what? She has a girlfriend? ...Had?

[ That's probably not the most important take away, but one thing at a time. ]

Has. She's still alive and well somewhere out there in the big ol' ocean blue. — You can't die here, remember? Or haven't you gotten that intel, yet?

(if she hadn't, surprise! but if she knew, shame on her for being so silly that anyone nor anyone sticks when they break down into pieces.)

I knew, but not seeing anyone attached to Friday, I decided not to assume anything. Anyway, I'm guessing there's a story behind her death?

[ Clara raises an eyebrow, not judging, just curious. ]

(jinx holts herself back on the table, returning to sit cross-legged with a smile still in place.)

Okay, lemme get your opinion. Person to person, girl to girl. If you met someone and the two of you started chattin' aaaaand somewhere down the line, she starts to insult you. Callin' you names and all that while you were already upset about somethin' she said prior to that. Whose really at fault? Who would you blame?

[ Clara carefully keeps her face in neutral territory, just listening, doing exactly what she does when a student comes to her with a conflict. Except the student typically hasn't already done something wrong and it doesn't involve murder. ]

What did she say? She pretended to be having a civil conversation with you and then what?

[opheliac]

To cut to the chase and not make it so drawn out: She offered somethin' to me buuuut in order for me to have it, she needed somethin' from me. I didn't like what that somethin' was and I got just a lil' upset.

(jinx grabs her left braid to do a few twirls.)

— She practically went "Oh you're one of those", I told her to "Shut up", she called me a "Useless fucking donkey", then BAM. Night-Night, Jens.

(after a few spins, she idly picks at her hair while she calmly explains further.)

Like I said, she came back days after, though. Then on that same day, she tried to drown me. But I can't be too mad at that part. It was payback. So I think we're squared. But No Face caaaaan't seem to let it go.

[ This is something else. There are obvious holes in the story but Clara doesn't want to keep pushing. It also changes her opinion of Friday - not as nice as she thought or hoped. ]

Well, that's a lot to unpack, Jinx. I mean, I'm guessing you don't make killing anyone in the ship a hobby. [ Clara tries to keep it light, smiling just a little. She likes Jinx but she also has so many questions. ]

[opheliac]

See, that's what a lotta people don't get about me. I may make guns, grenades, and aaaalll sorts of weaponry and gadgetry. (she holds up her index finger with a peppy smile.) — But! I only kill with reason. I just don't go willy-nilly on killin' just 'cuz I can. It doesn't feel as good, y'know? It's way too numb.

(she drops her hand back in her lap.)

There has to be a meaning behind it. A history, a bond. Or if not a history, just lil' somethin'.

[ Well thank goodness for small miracles. But Jinx doesn't strike her as hurtful. Mostly, she seems like someone who needs an adult who could've taught her better ways to resolve conflict (at least in the case of Friday), but that's definitely not her place. ]

Always good to have some sort of code, good on you. [ What a weird compliment to be giving out. ] I do think mostly - mostly - Friday is trying to help when she can.

Mooo~osstlly ♪. But you're probably right. — I oughta ask her about the excursion, though. 'Cuz normally, she would warn us or give some sort of tell if there's somethin' off about it. This time, she made it seem it was gonna be another calm one.

(so it's rather strange for friday to not show any fear or concern when everyone went through portal. because she knows everything that the captain knows, right?)
