09.01 โ top-level โ throughout the day
Seek me out, hear me out.
"Come get it", don't you simmer down, right now
Want you acting like you're in the wild,
Old style give me no doubts.
ii. LIBRARY. โ โdarling iโve been tempted by the darkness.โ
I hold on to every promise
I been waiting for a light
I hold on to every comet
Wonโt surrender - not tonight
iii. PLAYBACK. โ โno lunchbox friends.โ
the hassle, the fighting,
they all want a bite of me.
photos, more photos & gossip,
'bout hoes that they don't know.
oh, they talk shit though.
vi. WILDCARDโ โlet me know what you want. your dare desires in your thoughts.โ
Run, run, run
I'm waiting.
Come, come, come
take it
you can hunt me like a sport now.
I had to borrow your gun last time you set up a shooting gallery, but this time I have my own. Mind company?

Ooooo hey hey! โ Sure! You know when it comes to shootin', I never mind.

[Both the practice to improve his aim, and the release. Perhaps she can give him some pointers, he's stiff-arming in a way that makes the recoil worse.]

(it made sense really. the last excursion was... intense. the last part of it anyway. all of it might had been rough for some people but the first half to jinx, not so much. she's not all that close with skeleton man so death didn't had that much effect on her. now the dead? that was a clusterfuck.)
The thing about it if you're stress shootin', you're not gonna hit your target all the way.

[He lets out a bit of a self-deprecating laugh, aiming at a bottle labeled as Austershalin Brandy and firing.]

It's about what he expects, except it's a lot emptier than he had thought except for the lone figure sitting at a table. Without much of an invitation he sits himself down across from her.]
Is that what teens do in a teen club? Graffiti?
no subject
Still she flashes him a lazy yet impish smirk -- twirling the marker between her two fingers. )
No, it's just a Jinx thing. Wanna give it a go?
no subject
You can tell me how well I'm doing at being a Jinx then. Prompt?

too.)
Write or draw the most wicked thing you've done. Aaaand it can't be anythin' like " oh I died" or somethin'. That's boring.

It's clear he's pretty confident in his marker strokes. After a several seconds he pulls away to reveal a police box being flown away into a galaxy away from a planet. The planet has several people in ridiculous costumes shaking their fists at the man in the box that has wild hair and sunglasses much like himself.
When he's done he caps the marker and puts it in the centre of the table between them.]

Depends on what sort of books you like. Any type of genre jump out at you as a favorite?
[ This is a conversation she can totally get into and she definitely looks eager to talk. ]
no subject
I didn't get the chance to read a lotta books back where I'm from. They were usually told to me. Some dealt with monsters or scary stuff. But the bigger kids always came up with stories like that. So I guess that? But... some nice ones would be okay, too.
no subject
Alright, some scary, but willing to branch out. I can work with this. [ She starts moving along the aisles and scanning titles, already a few in mind. ]
I'm Clara, and you totally just made my afternoon. I love finding books for people.
no subject
Well, that's somethin' I don't hear every day. (jinx? making someone's afternoon? in a positive way? this should be written down somewhere or recorded or else no one would believe it.)
The name's Jinx. Nice to meetcha, Brunette.
(the nickname is definitely on the flat scale but there's always an opportunity to come up with a better one.)
Let's see what you got cookin' up for me then. I expect NO less.
no subject
Glad to meet you, and I love a challenge even more. Let's see...
[ And so, Clara begins moving around the library like a consummate professional, deciding to pick three very different books so Jinx can get a feel for what she might want more of. First, Daughter of Smoke and Bone which is a series, if it captivates her enough. All the Murmuring Bones comes next for a little bit of light horror and fairytales mixed, then ends with a self contained thriller. ]
These are all really different, but I think the three of them are good examples of the type of book they're supposed to be. We've got YA fantasy, sort of scary but more gothic slow burn until the crazy end, and then a straight thriller.

ii.
that's always a good thing, she tends to enjoy good company when they come across. her first assessment though is to gauge whether she's human or not, even if there's magical energy coming from her. )
Ichneutae by Sophocles, I'm unsure if you heard of his tales, but I found it to be an interesting take.
( though there's so many lines left for mankind to witness, but the experience is nice to have. )
no subject
(with her arms folded over her chest, jinx shifts her weight from one foot to the other -- eyebrow quirking.)
So what's it about?
(and she hopes whoever this stranger is (man, she's running into a lot of new people lately!!) won't give her too much of a run-down of the story. otherwise, instant boredom.)
no subject
It's about the ancient Greek God Hermes, so that name should give you an idea of what type of story it is.
( some would think fantasy, but hermes was known as a thief, also "the divine trickster", and so a bit of troublemaking is never bad for a story, right? it gives off the impression of a long-winded adventure, but one with twists and turns. )
The perspective would be from the Satyrs that are tracking him down, as Ichneutae also means "searching", "tracking". Are you interested in those types of stories?
( don't worry, she won't spoil the important bits. )
no subject
Hm, I could give it a whirl. โ The whole "tracking" gimmick is somethin' I can kinda relate to.
(because a good bit of her life, the firelights and the enforcers would attempt to hunt her down to put a stop of her shenanigans. if this hearsay about how they are all "clones" (and it's totally bogus), she wonders if the topsiders and/or the firelights succeeded.)
no subject
( she should ask the other way around, but given how cautious the other girl is with how she looks pollux up and down, there's not much to be said. the female keeps her composure, and only eyes the other with a steady gaze as though she has nothing to hide. pollux is a god first, servant second and so these expressions are common and doesn't stir anything inside of her aside from a smile.
maybe it's best to speak about the opposite side too. )
Unless you're the tracker then you must have a lot of stories! ( either way, it doesn't sound so bad. ) An autobiography might be a great idea for you to look into in the future, hehe.

He won't pull out a gun of his own to match, but rather he'll lift his arm straight, his index finger pointed forward in the direction of one of the bottles and his thumb straight up. ]
Bang! โ
[ He draws his hand back as he says that, letting his fingers relax against his palm. ]

Whooa, that was a bullseye...!
(although it was imaginary, jinx has a very active and wild one so to her, he definitely made the shot perfectly clean.)
no subject
I'm an expert marksman, I can put a shot right through the heart! โ
[ There's a small laugh and a wave of the hand to signify that he's being deliberately campy. ]
I wouldn't have thought to use a bar as an impromptu shooting range. It's truly a stroke of genius, and I must say I admire your marksmanship.
no subject
So you know your way around a gun, huh? Nice to know there's more of us on the ship. Hey, maybe we oughta make a gun club.
(imagine. a group of people sitting around and chat about guns in great detail. that would be something she can do for hours on end!)
