DIOSCURI (CASTOR) ([personal profile] mikraitios) wrote in [community profile] come_sailaway2022-09-15 07:34 pm

鬼KYOKAN

Who: Castor, Pollux, and maybe you?
When: September 16
Where: At the edge of the shoreline on the beach
Summary: A sacrifice for Jenny!
Warnings: It's an animal sacrifice but the actual thing isn't like, graphic.

Once the preparations are complete in the mid-afternoon, Castor and Pollux will gather anyone who's interested in attending and begin the sacrifice. As royalty among humans and ancient gods themselves, they are willing to offer a gracious demonstration of how to pay your respects to the gods, beginning with a prayer, but anyone who decides to stay is encouraged to participate—whether by talking with one another or tossing seeds during the ritual, anything so that they could be considered involved themselves.

Once anybody who stops by is ready and quieted down, they will lift their arms to the sky to call upon "Jenny" — a goddess of storms. Just imagine it goes something loosely along the lines of: "We, the Dioscuri, know of your search— while we hope that today's offering pleases you, know that we will reunite you with your brothers. In return, we ask that when we quit this voyage, you offer us, the passengers, your shelter alongside them as we return to where we should be."

Only the ones who don't piss her off is kind of an unsaid implication, but really, it seems like a fair enough trade, right?

The star of the show is a local boar that the two of them brought down together. Next to the makeshift altar, it can be found dressed up in what looks like a very fluffy pink silk scarf, which is tied in a ribbon around it's belly. Once it has agreed to the sacrifice, it's cooked over the open fire, and a certain amount is set aside especially for Jenny—the rest, though? Once the meat has finished cooking, it's distributed among everyone else in attendance, as well as any mangos and other foodstuffs that the guests might have their eyes on. No matter what you decide to accept, you're told that it should be finished by evening.

And when the feast is complete, everyone is invited to participate in games. Whether it's sprint races, jumping competitions, spear throwing, or... frisbee because proper discus' probably aren't available here and Castor sure as hell isn't letting a human touch his, everyone is encouraged to take part and enjoy themselves. (Including if anybody would like to make their own top-levels too!)

( pollux listens, she always takes to heart what someone has to say, and venti is no different. as a fellow god, she can always hear him out, as she believes he would do for her, or perhaps her expectations were too high that his commentary brings her to a pause. never has an issue like this arisen for it was never needed, because anyone would be able to realize that this sort of comparison wasn't the case. her fingers slowly remove from venti's hand, and her eyes remained trained on him. )

Venti, I think you have misunderstood me. The tiger came of its own accord because it wanted our offering to Jenny. ( that's why she made it a makeshift home, if she could have borrowed a residence from the salamnders then she would have offered it that. in the end, the idea would be for the creature to enjoy its stay. ) If it wishes to partake in the feast, it must partake in the sacrifice.

( if this was any other circumstance, then she would agree wholeheartedly, but to think of her to be so cruel to that extent as if this is just out of a whim, or because she felt like it. it isn't difficult to see venti is protraying her as a heartless individual with a chance at redemption, but why? she's nothing as horrid as it appears he's making her out to be.

she's disappointed, albeit frustrated at the thought of collars. pollux has been met with the same question where her own companions couldn't leave an island without a fistfight, and so to have that idea framed at her causes pollux to closer her eyes, she has to relax. it's like a small kindling in her soul that wishes to bear fire. yeah, the heat is there, and minor irritation, but she remains calm enough to offer her words. )

You see cruelty where there is only camaraderie. This is a respectful competition for sport, and you would compare it to a barbaric fight for one's life?

( the growling could mean that it doesn't want venti's pity, or perhaps it's offended? )

[ the sacrifice, then, might just be a concept that he’d oppose on principle. it wouldn’t be something he’d stop exactly and it’s not as if gods could possibly always agree, especially with this much difference across worlds and realities. and it would be, back in teyvat, gods might far more often war and conflict rather than agree until seven could come together, bound under celestial gifted power. ]

Miss Pollux, I don’t wish to offend. I could share my concern just to be certain, could I? [ the optics of this, a wild cat fenced in—it calls to possibly the core and origin of him, wind that could never be restrained, wind that had participated in war for freedom and might never wish to see others restrained or caged. what is freedom when demanded by a god? his own country might embody the best and worst of his decision, or irresponsibility, or refusal to play and guide as god. ]

People can agree to competition, people could communicate and challenge each other. When it comes to understanding even between people or gods or beasts, isn’t it best to be in accord? [ the tiger had remained silent; it’s been centuries since he’d been to sumeru, much had happened even since he was captured to the captain’s realm, he supposes he could brush up on communicating with animals. ]

Mister Tiger, perhaps if I could ask again… another silence, if you agree to this training? And a purr, if you wish to be free.

You know that you can share your concerns with me.

( that's right, there's nothing they have to hide from each other, she gave him her energy after all, and that was meant to being a bout of understanding. after all, she respects venti enough to think over his words, but she wouldn't lie to him about this. she would, without a double, protect the creature enclosed there even more now knowing that it means the world to the other— she would, she has to.

with a glance to the door, there's silence to venti's question, but with a sigh. )

It's fine, Venti. I understand the attachment you may have, and how you wish to see this creature free. Because you are my friend, then so be it.

( she's not heartbroken over the idea, but she does walk up to him, side by side as she reaches for the handle of the makeshift door she's made. she turns the handle, and it's like a flash of lightening as the speed that the creature jumps out— training, sure, but venti should dodge because fangs and claws bared aren't the best thing to be greeted with. )

[ maybe this is some kind of stupidity of his hope and wish for freedom always, would he want to set another free even if it might be his wish more than anything else? possibly. he could look at the tiger and recall, almost, vennessa's face after he'd heard her voice in the desert. he could look at almost any cage or restraint and feel a vague impulse to try to break it. there's the restlessness every time they go on an excursion and he tries to fly to the barrier and never finds escape. and here he can't fly at all.

the tiger could actually take him by surprise; there's the cast of his wind domain, the flare of the updraft that would normally carry him safely to the sky but--nope, it's not going to happen on this excursion. it rushes him up maybe a metre or so in the brisk wind, but then it dies extremely inconveniently abruptly and...

it lands him right on the tiger's back with a yelp of surprise and the awkward billow of his brown cape right to the tiger's face.

well that won't make the cat happy at all would it. ]

( now can venti ride animals of this caliber where as for pollux, she could mount an animal with ease and be able to ride it without difficulty. rather than jump in to stop what she's seeing, she won't question his methods as venti had seemed to be the ex-god with all the answers; and so maybe this goes along with it. her hands pressed against her thighs, she watches with trained eyes just in case something goes awry.

as for the tiger that can't see, it's truly difficult for it to see which brings one paw up to swipe at it's face in order to smack away the cape— if it could, it'll tear it probably. the best outcome would be to pull venti off its back by yanking the fabric, but it may not be that lucky the first few swipes. rather than running towards the jungle that's a straight shot, it spins in a circle, lurching it's body left and right in an attempt to throw him off.

unfortunately for venti, the tiger runs back inside of the makeshift house— inside, there's all sorts of cushions, and even a resting mat made out of leaves that was done with a lot of care? a bowl of water, and another bowl that's emptied out saying that the creature had a good meal. the tiger unaware of where it's going runs to the side, until it collides roughly against the wall in order to try and throw venti off.

taking a step forward, pollux peeks inside to check on them both. )
