[ Perhaps she shouldn't have said anything. She wouldn't mind if Jinx could slip in a little bit of sleep. Preparing and hosting the party must be draining. ]

Were you sleepy? You can rest your eyes a little longer if you want.

No, no. I, uh... wanna spend some time with you.

(a beat.)

Actually, there's something I've been meaning to ask you for a lil' while now.

(jinx sits up straighter as she feels nervousness running through her veins, lightly nipping at her own lower lip as she considers whether or not she should even ask this particular question.)

[sabigoe]

[ The nervousness is noticeable, which she finds a little concerning. It's not a look that she's used to seeing from the older girl. Fio would have expected Jinx to straight up ask the question right then and there.

Yet Fio continues to manage to put up a small kind smile despite feeling her own worry starting to build up. She can't imagine what would make her hold back from whatever it is that she wants to ask. ]

...What is it?

(phew, okay. here goes nothing:)

You and I...uh.

(she stops and tries again:)

I-I know we've only know each other for a few months but... you're really important to me. And I wanna be someone you can run to if somethin' scary happens o-or if you need a hug. I know you can take care of yourself and you probably don't really need me around, but... I —

(a beat.)

— I want to be there for you and...take care of you. Like. A family...would. I wanna ask if... do — do you wanna be sisters...?

[ There was a time the subject of siblings came up during her adventures with one of her former companions. Though it was small talk to cut through their silence, she also opened up about wanting a brother or sister back then. Growing up as an only child was terribly lonely, especially with the neglect from her parents and the rejection of the people that she believed to be her friends.

The reason explains the endless amount of kindness and affection in the small few months they've known each other. It makes her curious if she had been similarly feeling lonely or some sort of situation with her family that drives her to ask for something like this.

Fio nearly springs off her stool from happiness at the question. Her answer is almost immediate. Perhaps there's no reason to be nervous at all... ]

Seriously? I'm an only child and I've always wanted a sibling!

(is it silly of her expecting for fio to say, "no"? jinx is so use to things going always so sour for her that, she always goes in thinking the worst scenarios. but when she hears the answer is the opposite, jinx gaze at her in disbelief. is... is she dreaming? is this real?)

R-Really? So... So it's really a yes?

Yes, of course!

[ Fio can't wrap her mind around on why Jinx would feel so nervous about the question. She tries to think of the reason why. ...Is it because they look different? Her cheeriness falters a little as she thinks that might be a possible reason, almost struggling to keep her smile up. ]

....And it's okay if we're not blood-related... and that we don't look alike. I'll always love you as my sister, so you don't have to worry.

[ Perhaps it's a strange thing for her to suddenly say as assurance. She always loved her parents, even after learning that they weren't blood-related. Sadly the feelings weren't reciprocated. ]

[opheliac]

( maybe it's the moment or the alcohol but jinx feels herself swelling with tears; hot streams rolling down her cheeks before finally getting up, too. she still stumbles just a bit but she kneels down to fio's level and brings her in a warm embrace.)

And I'll always love you. Thank you, Fio...for acceptin' me. I promise to be the best sister you could ever ask for.

[ Why is she crying? "Accepting"...? Of course, Fio accepts her. She always did. She would think something like this would be a happy moment. Honestly, she's curious, but she doesn't wish to stir up any painful memories with any questioning. What matters is that they're happy how they are now, she reminds herself.

And she realizes, after all this time, it's always Jinx who is first to initiate these expressions of affection. Fio returns the embrace, her little arms hugging her as tight as she can. ]

You don't have to cry, Blue. But... if you need to, then it's okay. Just let it all out! [ Her voice is as kind and as gentle as ever. It's kind of funny... she feels like these are words that a big sister would say? ] You're already a great big sister!

(yes, she needs to but only for a little bit. after all, jinx is hosting a part and she needs to be the life of the party! with a sniff, she lets go of their embrace and chuckles a little.)

Good, I-I'm glad. We oughta do somethin' together later. I dunno what yet but we'll think of something' fun to do.
