Seated on the floor, out of the way with her legs crossed, she has a small plate of food and her little melty drink on the floor beside her as she picks at her meal. There is plenty of room around her for company. ]

Every time I think it's too loud in there, I swear the volume on the next song gets bumped up another few notches. [He smiles.] Hi, Wanda.

She's not unused to sharing a small space with someone, though - her home where she grew up was small, and through the years after, she'd nearly always been with Pietro in some cramped room or cell.
Wanda blinks up at him when she's approached, smiling a little guiltily. She'd been lost in the clouds. ]
I think my eardrums were going to rupture. I had to leave. Have a seat, if you like. The ground is very comfy.

[He takes a seat on the floor near her, careful to avoid the plate of food and the half-full drink. It's clear he's interrupted her solitude, but the invitation still feels like a genuine one. And, if they have to live together, it hurts nothing to be on friendlier terms.]

What do you think of all this?
[ the boat, the party. any of it. ]
no subject
[Darlington shakes his head, watching Wanda take a sip of her drink.]
What about you?
no subject
I'm not sure. It is possible, though. That it's all an illusion, something created, disguising what's underneath.
no subject
[Darlington had said that about Manuscript, more times than he can count. They were the house of illusions and deception, the society he trusted least--and whose opinion on him was equally as antagonistic. They'd proved that well enough on Halloween. The thought of that description applying equally as well to the Serena Eterna makes him more than a little sick; what's worse is the suspicion that he's not completely wrong to draw the parallel.
He notices Wanda glance away, her lips pressing together thinly, and wonders if he hasn't missed something.]
If it is an illusion, though, it makes you wonder what's underneath.

[ She picks at the hem of her shirt, thoughtful, considering. What happened in Westview isn't something she'll be talking about any time soon, but she's certainly thinking about it. A lot. ]
It could be something similar. Older. The bones of a ship, maybe. It's hard to say for certain.
[ Pieces of her magic don't work here and it's infuriating. ]
no subject
[That Wanda picks up the theory at all is interesting, all the more so because of the time she takes in obviously thinking about her answer. Darlington makes a soft, considering sound as he mulls it over in turn.]
Whatever it is, it's keeping us here. The bones of an older ship, though...that's unnerving and interesting all at once. It'd fit with the prevalence of ghosts around here. Or whatever the ship's invisible servers and shop attendants are.

[ It isn't a new concept to her - others would likely react differently, but Wanda...
Well. She's seen it first hand. Directly contributed to the collective trauma of an entire town. ]
It seems ghostly, but I don't have experience with that. [ Wanda chews her lower lip, still tugging at her sleeve before she reaches to sip her watery, mostly ice drink. She is telepathic. That much she does know. It could be worth investigating, should she actually get off her ass and do something about all this.
Just -- things always seem to go wrong when she gets involved. Clint told her if she walked out that door, she'd be an Avenger. Less than an hour later, her brother was dead. Every defining moment of her life after wound up with Wanda involved in some sort of catastrophe, eventually earning her a 'terrorist' label.
Perhaps inaction is the best form of action for her, at this point. ]

[He'd said the same to Alex, but he knows now how little she'd heeded that advice before Lethe ever found her.]
I can't see them without assistance, though, so maybe here that's a moot point anyway. I can't even tell if they operate on the same rules as the ghosts back home.
no subject
Greys? What is that?
[ Something ominous sounding, that much she's sure of. ]
What...kind of assistance?
no subject
Sarge is taking up the hall space with his huddle against the wall, head bowed and eyes pressed to his mismatched palms-- or he was before she came in to his peripheral vision. Now he's scrambled up to his feet and is looking like he's sure he's in her way.]
Sorry. Sorry. I'll move.
no subject
[ Though once she gets a good look at his face, she squints, tipping her head before recognition smooths her features out. She doesn't know him well, only knows that they are on the same side. ]
...Sgt. Barnes?
no subject
Sarge. Just Sarge.
[A pause. A slightly hang-dog look.]
You know me?
no subject
[ She nods, brow slightly furrowed. ]
I don't know you well. You don't...remember me?
no subject
No. That's not. Unusual, though. I don't remember anybody.
[Then, hesitantly,]
Who are you?
no subject
chaotic. ]
My name is Wanda. We've fought together, before.
no subject
I'm sorry. The Peter kid said he knew me, too.
no subject
[ She furrows her brow a little, tipping her head. Natasha had been here briefly, and she had been very dead last Wanda checked. ]
What do you remember?
no subject
HYDRA. The last mission. The helicarrier. I left Captain America on the river and ran away, and I'd been on the run for a few days before. I was here.
[There are a few pieces of anything that came before, but he has no context for them. He doesn't know what to do with them. Wanda certainly isn't in any of them.]
