I haven't found a way to cash them out yet. But the stores also don't seem to take money so I'm not sure what I would do with it if I could. Though I admit I'm a little curious what currency it would even give me.

[ He shuffles and deals the cards out with the practiced ease of someone who's done this a million times.]

Reigen Arataka. In fact--[He does some kind of rapid hand gesture that involves procuring a business card from somewhere on his person, which he then holds out to Maximilen.]--I've still got a few of these, you're free to take one if you want it.

[The business card mentions that his name, as well as his business "Spirits and Such Consultation" in Seasoning City, Japan.]

[He blinks, surprised that someone actually has a business card on this ship. That's, kind of impressive. He hasn't met any other businessmen.]

Spirits and Such. What is the Such part of that?

[Seasoning City isn't anywhere he's ever heard of, but he assumes it's some literal translation he's not familiar with.]

Anything that might not fall completely into the realm of spirits, such as anything involving espers or curses and the like.

[Or really, anything that Reigen feels like getting involved with on a given day.]

[He shuffles the cards, dealing out their hands and the three cards in the middle.]

What's an esper? I don't think I've ever heard that before.

[He still thinks 'spirits' refers to alcohol.]

People with psychic abilities of some nature: most can see ghosts, move things with their mind, or some other kind of special talent with their power.

[It finally clicks that spirits is probably not what he thinks it is here.]

What do ghosts look like?

[Reigen glances at the hand he's been dealt--three pair, not too bad--before he answers.]

It depends. Some can look human, but most of the time they opt for something more monsterous or inhuman in some manner. It's typically because they choose it in order to appear more intimidating, or they've lost too much energy, or even their own sense of self, to remember or care about what they may have looked like before they died.

[He looks down at his paltry two of a kind, his metal face giving away nothing.]

I see. I'm not sure we have ghosts in my world. Or if we do, I certainly can't see them.

Can you see the dealers in the casino? Or the servers in the restaurants?

Not well, but that could be because they're weaker than some of the ghosts I'm used to back home, or for some other reason I've yet to discover in the course of my investigations here.

[He's bluffing, partially, because in reality, Reigen can't see spirits at all back home, except for Dimple and a few others to some slight degree depending on the situation.]

Investigations? Ah, you're trying to figure out how this all works. Anything interesting so far?

[He hasn't even made an attempt to try and decipher this place. That was someone else's problem, he just wanted to get out of here.]

I tried testing how long it takes for things to be cleaned or repaired when broken in the bedrooms--they'll stay broken for as long as someone doesn't leave the room. It somehow repairs broken items if you leave, or even have your view of the room cut off if you close the door in the bathrooms.

For whatever reason, it seems our hosts don't want us to see how exactly they like to do their house cleaning, so to speak.

So things only happen when we're not directly looking at it? That might be useful, though I can't fathom why that would be the case. It's not as if no one has seen housekeeping services before, and the ones doing this are invisible anyway.

[he drums the fingers of the hands not holding the cards on the table.]

Unless they aren't. Maybe some are able to be seen.

[Reigen nods in agreement to that.]

That's what I've been thinking. Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but either way, it's something that I can't help but be curious about.

[Somewhere along the way he realizes he got distracted and didn't even flip over the other cards in the center flop. Oops. He'll do that now while he thinks about what Reigen is saying.]

I'm not sure there's any way to overthink what's going on here. Very little makes sense. Where are the supplies coming from? The water? The food? We've never docked, there can't possibly be enough storage for months on end for how much food that buffet puts out.

[Reigen glances at the cards, then at his hand before he speaks again.]

Yeah. It's all very suspicious, no matter how you look at it.

Is the food... actually food? I can't eat it so I don't know.

It is. Or at least, it looks and tastes like food as far as I've been able to tell.

[Which is... a concerning thought that maybe it's something else that's been made to look like food.

A thought he decides to brush past by turning his attention to the game again.]

How's your hand looking?

Not ideal if I'm honest.

[He has a flush which isn't exactly bad, but it's not exactly good either. Still...He moves a few of his chips forward.]

But also, not terrible.

I'd say about the same for mine, actually.

[And yet, Reigen doesn't fold, moving a few chips forward as well.]

[It is a nice change of pace to be able to play more aggressively since all he has to lose is well.. plastic discs. And they're not even his - he stole them from the casino here.]

I suppose they can't all be winners, that would take the excitement out of winning after all.

I agree... at least, in regards to games like this one. Makes the sting of losing less bitter.

['Cause lord knows Reigen can't afford to pick up a gambling habit if they actually had cash to barter with. He's too much of a cheapskate to use money for bets.]

True. Especially with the stakes so low. Well non-existent I suppose. Though even without money behind it, there's something satisfying about a big stack of chips.
