"Yes, Stede Bonnet, the Gentleman Pirate. Mostly known for sailing with Blackbeard for a time." Watson flashes a smile. "It should surprise you not at all that I spent a good deal of time as a boy reading about pirates. I met them separately a few days ago, and I'm fairly certain Blackbeard was watching when Bonnet asked me to dance. It was all very odd."

He looks at the chalk in César's goatee, and suppresses a smile. He'll definitely mention that at some point, but... not yet. It's cute.

"At any rate I suppose someone ought to know if this is some terrible plot against me."

"I'm anything but surprised that you read such stories," César chuckles. "... Let's hope for his sake that he's just protective rather than plotting your demise."

César says it in a light, matter-of-fact manner that implies he'll make sure it's never an issue again, all while unknowingly wearing that little spot of blue.

"For his sake?" Watson repeats, grinning. "Are you planning to sweep in like a knight errant? I am a very dangerous ruffian myself, you know."

He steps closer, reaching up to wipe the chalk from César's goatee. "You have chalk in your beard, dear boy."

César goes to reply, only to make a bit of a startled sound when Watson wipes the chalk off his beard. Followed by a light laugh. "It seems that I do." Oh, he's not moving away.

"I know you are, but you saw the security footage." You know. Of César practically leveling Providence's defenses without hurting a soul (look, just unconscious doesn't count), 'kidnapping' his brother, and then leaving without being stopped. "I'll just leave the pole here."

Chalk dust wiped away, Watson gently tugs on César's goatee, before withdrawing, innocent as you please. "Well, not that I don't have the utmost faith in your abilities, but do take me with you, there's a good fellow. Help aside, I would hate to miss the show."

A little laugh at the tug, and then he shakes his head with amusement. "All right. I guess you can come."

But the tug reminds him of—no, don't think about it; he runs a self-conscious hand over his goatee. "... You like my goatee, though?"

Oops. There must have been chalk on that hand. Seems like there's blue in it again.

"What?" That's so odd a question to him that he pauses to look at César again. "Yes, of course I do. It suits you wonderfully. Here, you have chalk in it again." Watson steps close again, this time pulling out a handkerchief. "It must be all over your fingers. Honestly."

He presses the cloth into César's hands, and then goes about tidying up his beard for him again. "We are rapidly giving up any pretence of secrecy, you realise. I think perhaps we are not very good at this."

César opens his mouth to admit why he asked, but then he's simply enjoying being fussed over. He gives a little laugh and starts cleaning off his hands. They had said he can't keep wrapping up his happiness in his brother, and he has to remind himself that—thought truncated.

"I'm glad you like it... and I think you're right. About the chalk and the secrecy. But perhaps we should just aim for 'low-key' instead of 'completely secret'. I'm not sure we can manage much else." César shows him the handkerchief, completely amused. "It could've been far worse."
