Hm… My parents just didn't want to live there any longer, I suppose? Never really thought to ask them, but they quite liked their simpler life in a country town.

[ Not that it really mattered to him either way. It's not like he was ever even old enough to have thought questions like "why do we live here?" before his hometown and family were burned to the ground. That's probably a depressing topic, though, isn't it? He has some sense to not go bringing that up immediately. All bets are off if she goes prodding, though, since Mizuki has only 1 social awareness token per day and he's just used it up.

He listens to her talk about singing, though. And he smiles. It's… nice to hear someone talk about their experiences like this with him. ]

Well, hm… I'm told that the language I told you about before… is powerful. That there's something about melody and song that brings out emotions that conversation otherwise cannot convey. So, perhaps, something like that "just coming to you" is because it's something powerful to you?

[Lucy catches the way he uses the past tense in "liked," but Mizuki's safe from her prodding about that for now. It's not exactly a subject you're supposed to talk about at a party. That, and it might prompt him to ask about her own sensitive topics.]

[Having been abandoned, Lucy grew up hating her own parents. But now that she knows it was only her father who had been guilty of doing that, she's got ambivalent feelings about her mom and is still trying to figure those out.

She considers something for a moment, glancing at the karaoke machine and then back at Mizuki with a heavy sigh.]

If you want, I'll go up there with you.

[Mizuki hasn't wronged her and she doesn't see him as annoying, so she's willing to do something for him. And at least if they're both doing it, she won't be the only one making a fool out of herself.]

I don't think they have opera on there, but I'll still sing so long as it's not ridiculous.

[ Mizuki, too, only really has feelings for his mother. Not that he had ill will towards his father or anything, but simply just because… he didn't know him all that well. But, of course, now that they're both gone, it's not like Mizuki had thought about them like… that. He wonders, would his mom be disappointed in him? She was always, always so proud of him that it's… hard to imagine her being upset with him.

A wince. Then he shakes his head. ]

It's definitely just for myself. [ …Probably.

Oh, but she's offering to go with him? How kind. Especially since she doesn't quite seem like she wants to do so?? But she's considering it for his sake??? He can't help the giddy smile that suddenly pops up as his hands reach out to grab onto hers excitedly. ]
