[in actuality, she laughs, half behind her hand to keep it quieter - they are in a library after all.]
He's before my time too. But sometimes the older authors really have a way with a phrase. And if you end up hating it, come and tell me that too, and we can try again.
[though she believes firmly that he won't. Pip's adventures get quite dramatic, enough to hold someone's focus for at least a few hours at a time.]
[Well, at least he's not THAT out of touch with ship's business. Bad luck for her, but she's already up to speed and seems level headed enough.]
I mostly read for school before I got here. [Visiting the ship's library started as research. Just like when he realized vampires are real back home, fiction was all he had to go by... and somewhere along the way it became a hobby.] But it grew on. Is Dickens your favorite?
Actually, I don't have a favorite, it's too hard to choose. And there are so many here I've never heard of - it's almost daunting to figure out where to start.
[which is not really a problem to have - she'll just have to end up picking one out.]
[Natsuno is mildly surprised to realize he does want to share his own favorites. She seems pleasant enough, and though he came here at night to be alone, he doesn't object a nice normal interaction after last month.]
Do you like detective stories? I like Boris Akunin's books. They're about 19th century Russia, so they're historical too.
I do like a good detective story, as long as the solution isn't something just whipped out of thin air. You can't solve anything like that....but since I've never heard his name before, I'd be delighted to try him!
[something new, unknown entirely? you might as well have just handed her a birthday present.]
Oh, it'll be fine. That's a different ship than this one - this one has all sorts of magic, doesn't it? I'll read it regardless, and give you my honest opinion.

[That's pretty nice of her. It's unlikely he will quit so fast, though, if only because of stubbornness.]
...It's Yuuki, by the way. I don't think I've seen you around before.
[Then again he was possessed for most of October, so for all he knows she can be quite settled in.]

[a few days is nothing, compared to the scope of this place.]
It's a pleasure, Mr. Yuuki. I'm always glad to meet those who also enjoy the written word.

Unless you have any advice on that front?

If you're looking for escapism though, you might want to skip the one about a ship murder mystery.
