1. a sadness runs through him (breakfast)

[ The first few days feel like they go by in a haze. It's very easy to retreat inwards and cut oneself off from everyone by just staying in his cabin, but that can only go on for so long. And unfortunately being stuck in a ship together, there only so many places Eddie can hide.

Also, the fact that he has a roommate means Eddie can't really be completely alone by staying behind, so eventually he ventures out. He plays it safe, avoiding the pool deck or anything nearby altogether. Breakfast seems like a good place to start, right? Even if Eddie barely touches his food, except to push it around with his fork and make conversation to deflect attention away from the fact that something is clearly off.

It's fine, everything's fine, he just needs a couple more days, nothing to worry about here.

But maybe, someone should check up on him and remind him that he's not really alone. ]

2. open your eyes and dream (library)

[ To the surprise of no one -- at least for anyone who actually knows anything about Eddie -- he eventually ends up at the library. A place that houses books that he's actually heard of? Fuck yeah, you can bet he's sifting through all the different offerings.

And, because it's a bit of nostalgia, he grabs The Fellowship of the Ring and settles down in an armchair. A bit of escapism should do the trick.

Don't be surprised if he's so engrossed in Tolkien's writing, that he doesn't notice when someone approaches. ]

3. like spinning plates (shopping)

[ Eddie's starting to feel a little more like himself again. Maybe it's just time and distance away from it, or maybe he's just willfully pushed all of those memories into a lockbox and vows never to touch on them again. Which is maybe not the healthiest way to cope, but.

Retail therapy is probably not much better, either, and yet here he is, going from store to store with little intention of actually walking out with anything. Well, except maybe for a pair of sunglasses. And terribly tacky clothing that he has every intention of DIY-ing into something absolutely inappropriate for a cruise ship.

Might as well have some fun with it while he's stuck here, right?

If they don't bump into him in the midst of the shopping excursion, then one might just spot Eddie wearing a crop top with a palm tree that shows off the remnants of scars as well as a smattering of ink that managed to survive the bats that chewed him up, as well as a pair of obscenely tight shorts that have been altered to look a little more, well, lived in. ]
