monday's child is fair of face (2/2)
CW: death, probably gore, possibly more TBA
[and that’s what you missed on glee.
and so, there “Friday” is, standing on the roof of the bar. the attention of the party has surely turned to her by this point, but she doesn’t care about that. she just needs one person to still be a little too distracted to stop what was coming next.
Monday snaps her fingers, and Jenny disappears from wherever she was standing before, reappearing directly in front of Monday, who embraces her from behind, an arm wrapped firmly around her middle. those with enhanced senses might catch what she whispers, seconds before she snaps Jenny’s neck so hard it hangs at a 90 degree angle as Monday kicks her, her corpse toppling forward onto the deck below.]
Surprise, bitch.
[well, there. unfinished business settled. onto more pertinent matters.]
Let’s get a little more comfortable first, hm? Can’t waste too much of her magic, but audiences love a quick change.
[she snaps her fingers, and Monday finds herself in an outfit that is far more to her taste. now. time for her grand performance.]
Greetings, foolish mortals! You may or may not have noticed that things have been a little bit different this month. While the Captain is off having a good old bitch cry about whatever it is he’s so upset about, poor little Friday was running herself ragged keeping this shitheap floating! She was so distracted, in fact, that she happened to have a little accident, while fixing something in the elevator shaft! [a laugh] I guess even clay bitches can break their necks! And there I was, sitting in Fucking Nowhere, doing Fucking Nothing, feeling Fucking. Nothing! And I saw her empty shell. And I was, like, hey, free real estate!
Whatever tear in the veil that your whiny little Captain just didn’t feel like fixing? I ripped that fucker right open. And you’ve all met a few of the sorry little fuckers that fell out already, hm? [another snap] Not all of them, but, hey, that’s what now is for, right? Because, see, we all kinda got together a little bit, and we were like… You know, just borrowing some shitty bodies to have some fun for a few weeks? What a waste! And we still have a lot of bitches we need to spring from jail!
And that! Is where you assholes come in! And, trust me, you are all assholes. Have you even seen some of the psychotic shit you people have said and done to us? Like, yeah, Mary is legitimately insane, but she’s still a kid! Even I’m not gonna call a fucking nine year old a bitch!
You can try to run, but I fucking hate running in heels, so I made that a little bit… difficult. So. Why don’t you nice people just lay down and let us kill you. I’ll be gentle. Promise.
[perhaps people have tried to flee already. they likely have. and they’ve found that the entire party area has been blocked off by the same sort of barrier that surrounds the realm, an invisible orb holding them captive.]
Now. Let’s get the actual party started!

He makes it almost to her before his sharper mind prevails, unfurling a laundry list of warning signs he should have noticed before tonight. Hesitating to grab his hand, telling him she didn't need him watching so much, impatient, annoyed, bratty --
He grabs Fio's shoulder to yank her back towards him, still unable to actually admit the obvious to himself as he shouts,]
YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE.

...Fio's "father". A skeleton? Weird. Ever since the battle royale, this group of passengers' battle royale, ever since he comforted her that day... and when he held her hand during the victory party-- she would keep going to him for more of that warmth and affection. It always reminded her of the time when she was once loved and cared for by her own parents. And it filled that empty hole in her heart. Fio's heart.
Mary really should have just dragged him out as far back as she could into the Spirit that day. Take him out right there with Calcite's Light-affinity nuke. Then try to rip his skull off his spine, make it just like her mannequin heads from Guertena's gallery. That would've been so much fun...! Sure, she's capable of doing it now, but she's saving the doll's ammo for a very special target. )

...Daddy.
Um, I'm... I'm sorry. I'm really sorry I wasn't a good kid. Now soooo many bad things are happening. [ With her free hand, Fio reaches forward to take his skeletal hand. Just like how she always does... ] It's so scary now. I'll stick close to you, 'kay?

Right now, there is just terrible rage that stirs like some great serpent in his mind. He can't do it, he knows that it will literally break him to do what needs to be done -- but the ice-cold comfort is that he can still do it.
No one else should have to.]
Don't you dare.
[He clicks his fingers, fire bursting to life in his palm, turning blue-hot. A gun would be quicker, more efficient. But not personal enough. Besides, this can go just as quickly, if he punches her hard enough.]

[ Drawing back her hand, Mary shuffles backwards so fast with a shriek. Nearly stumbling over herself in fear and still, manages to keep standing on two feet. She can't fall here. Her body here is so weak. And though she's "real" here, she still has traumatic memories of her portrait being set ablaze in the art gallery, then her own form turning to ashes.
Mary's face contorts, twisting back into an unseemly expression. A click of her tongue, annoyed. Fine, fine! She's going to let someone else deal with him. Just as she had been planning from the moment she strayed from his side. Until he started searching for Fio... ]
...Aha... ahahahaha!
[ Oh, Mary's so afraid right now, shaking. And yet, she doesn't go off running. Her lips curve upward into a disturbed smile. She forces out a maniacal, broken laugh. Just sticking around to shout a few insults at the skeleton from a several feet distance. ]
You knoooow, Fio's not even here anymore! She's been gone for a while now! Didn't you notice? Ohohoho... ahahaha...! [ A cackle. Twirling around in a circle, arms out to the sides. It would look innocent if she didn't have that knife sticking out to the side. She repeats, something Fio once told him: ]
Oh, you're the smaaaartest and the bravest, Duggy!
[ Spinning stops, then points her knife in Skulduggery's direction. ]
Some detective you are! Duggy... more like a dummy! What a clown you are...!

It's panic that tries to well up as he thinks, how long, how long, but it's swallowed by the current. He can see what's happening, knows what's happening, but this deep in the water, all he feels is numb. the feelings will be dredged from the lake later, pieced together and only remembered under a haze of exhaustion.]
SHUT. UP!
[He wants to be cold and calculating, but there's no control when he hurls the fireball at her. It's desperate, awful, and accompanied by a roar of anguish that may as well be fury.]
GET OUT OF HER. GET OUT OF HER. GET OUT OF HER--

[ In the beginning, Mary managed to lay low. Act as close as possible to the other girl. Still, parts of herself slipped out, sure. Mostly kept behind the scenes. Over time, her facade started chipping more and more and more... and now she's this. Clearly not the beloved Fio.
Another horrified, high-pitched scream as the fireball launches in her direction. Refusing to stand and wait around, she spins around on her heel and breaks into a run. Yet she still can't wipe off the crazed smile on her face... wow, she really got him!
The blaze flies dangerously close, zooms right past her and setting fire to a couple of nearby Halloween decor instead. Gosh, she's having trouble deciding whether she should be feeling scared or finding this absolutely hilarious! ]
Ahahaha, ahahahahahahahaha...! It's too laaaateeeee...!
[ Despite how much fear she feels at this moment, she can't help but howl in laughter as she flees unscathed across the deck... even adding a few cheerful skips in her steps as she takes off...
Bye, Skulclownery! ]
