monday's child is fair of face (2/2)
CW: death, probably gore, possibly more TBA
[and that’s what you missed on glee.
and so, there “Friday” is, standing on the roof of the bar. the attention of the party has surely turned to her by this point, but she doesn’t care about that. she just needs one person to still be a little too distracted to stop what was coming next.
Monday snaps her fingers, and Jenny disappears from wherever she was standing before, reappearing directly in front of Monday, who embraces her from behind, an arm wrapped firmly around her middle. those with enhanced senses might catch what she whispers, seconds before she snaps Jenny’s neck so hard it hangs at a 90 degree angle as Monday kicks her, her corpse toppling forward onto the deck below.]
Surprise, bitch.
[well, there. unfinished business settled. onto more pertinent matters.]
Let’s get a little more comfortable first, hm? Can’t waste too much of her magic, but audiences love a quick change.
[she snaps her fingers, and Monday finds herself in an outfit that is far more to her taste. now. time for her grand performance.]
Greetings, foolish mortals! You may or may not have noticed that things have been a little bit different this month. While the Captain is off having a good old bitch cry about whatever it is he’s so upset about, poor little Friday was running herself ragged keeping this shitheap floating! She was so distracted, in fact, that she happened to have a little accident, while fixing something in the elevator shaft! [a laugh] I guess even clay bitches can break their necks! And there I was, sitting in Fucking Nowhere, doing Fucking Nothing, feeling Fucking. Nothing! And I saw her empty shell. And I was, like, hey, free real estate!
Whatever tear in the veil that your whiny little Captain just didn’t feel like fixing? I ripped that fucker right open. And you’ve all met a few of the sorry little fuckers that fell out already, hm? [another snap] Not all of them, but, hey, that’s what now is for, right? Because, see, we all kinda got together a little bit, and we were like… You know, just borrowing some shitty bodies to have some fun for a few weeks? What a waste! And we still have a lot of bitches we need to spring from jail!
And that! Is where you assholes come in! And, trust me, you are all assholes. Have you even seen some of the psychotic shit you people have said and done to us? Like, yeah, Mary is legitimately insane, but she’s still a kid! Even I’m not gonna call a fucking nine year old a bitch!
You can try to run, but I fucking hate running in heels, so I made that a little bit… difficult. So. Why don’t you nice people just lay down and let us kill you. I’ll be gentle. Promise.
[perhaps people have tried to flee already. they likely have. and they’ve found that the entire party area has been blocked off by the same sort of barrier that surrounds the realm, an invisible orb holding them captive.]
Now. Let’s get the actual party started!

"Fuck off already, kid and let me get to what I gotta do. She's clearly not that important to you." She takes a step back to see how it goes. "Anyway. Nice chat. I'm gonna get back to it."
cw: bisection and stuff
Ruby grits her teeth so hard it hurts and it may seem to Mara like she's not going to stop her, for a second. She doesn't heft Crescent Rose up, she doesn't swing, she just... pumps the central column and as Mara steps away, she'll find her lower back pressed right up against the bite of cold steel.
The blade can rotate, now. She never thought she'd use it like this.
"—I'msorry."
She pulls the trigger. A stray bullet flies off to hopefully nowhere. The recoil and Ruby's own surprising strength combine to yank the scythe forward hard, right through Maeve's midsection.
no subject
She looks at her for a long moment. "I'm not going back. You can't-" But she's not going to fucking beg for her damn life. That's fucking stupid. She didn't beg her mother and she's sure not going to beg this little bitch.
"Fuck you. I hope you can never look at her face the same again. I hope this destroys you." But the blade going through her stomach is definitely going to be enough and as Maeve's body crumples to the ground, she wonders if this is poetic justice because she impaled Phil. Sure, she tries to drag herself away, but it's only a matter of minutes before the lights go out and Mara's gone.
no subject
Crescent Rose carves through Maeve's body like it's carved through a thousand Grimm and Ruby Rose feels her stomach turn as it comes away red.
Grimm don't bleed. People bleed. Ruby has been killing Grimm since she was barely into her teens but she's never killed a person. The only blood she's ever had on her hands was from applying pressure, bandages, to wounds she didn't cause.
And now Maeve is lying in two pieces on the ground (Penny, torn apart—) and there's blood on her weapon and on the floor and maybe it's not as much as it seems like there should be, but it's still more than she's ever caused with her own two hands and—
A gasp and she drops Crescent Rose. It clatters to the floor as Ruby crumples after it, entire body shaking as what just happened settles deep into her bones.
She just killed Maeve.
(Not Maeve, but—)
Oh Gods.
Ruby lets out a strangled cry and curls up into a tight ball as something in her just... switches off. She's not going anywhere any time soon.

Ylva creeps over, cautious, but worried all the same. She has no fear of death, has lived in the reality of death and life and the cycle therein for as long as she can remember, but she has a vague idea of how it sometimes hits other people, who have not.
"I promise it's me." That's what someone who isn't her would say, probably, but she doesn't know what else to say. "What happened?"
no subject
Ruby doesn't even startle. In fact it seems to take her a solid ten seconds to even process the sound of Ylva's voice, at which point her head does raise to look at her.
She's not even crying. She just looks— lost.
"She was— she wasn't her. Maeve. She killed someone and I— I had to—"
no subject
Ylva settles herself down on the ground next to her, head tilted slightly to one side. "You had to. If someone is killing and you need to stop them, sometimes that's what you do."
no subject
"I— I know that." Her voice is briefly sharpened, but... dulls out again almost immediately. "I— I think I know that? Abstractly. You know? I've fought people before. I fight people all the time! But no one's ever... I've never had to..."
She stares at Crescent Rose. For being such a brutal weapon, it's never once been stained the way it is now.
no subject
Ylva leans her head on Ruby's shoulder. "You kill something to eat it, maybe. Or because it's attacking you. And that's just... life. It's how things are. But sometimes it's a person, and that's... different. And not in a good way."
no subject
Ruby sags a little as soon as Ylva's head touches her shoulder, her own head dropping to rest against the top of Ylva's after a second. Her eyes start to shine, but don't well up with enough tears to fall.
"I-I've killed so many monsters. E-Except Grimm aren't really— alive, in the same way, and... and even when I fight people it's enemies, y-you know? Maybe... maybe if it was like that it wouldn't feel like this?"
She doesn't know if she actually believes that, even as she says it.
no subject
"You really liked her, huh? That's... part of the problem, isn't it. You liked her, and it wasn't her." She sighs, sympathetic. "That's hard. I'm sorry. I've killed a lot of monsters, and I've killed a lot of people, but none of them were people I liked. That actually sounds... really awful, having to kill someone like that."
no subject
"Maeve is—" like a mom who isn't actually her mom, but saying that out loud right now is even harder than it would have been before this, not even because of her own issues but because the person in Maeve used it against her. "—good to me. A-And I know that wasn't— her, not really, but it's her face, her body, a-and what's the difference? If I can do that then— then—"
She chokes on a sudden sob and her weight sags completely into the arm around her as she wraps an arm around Ylva's back in turn.
no subject
"It's different because it's not her, and you know the difference between her and someone that looks like her." This might be simplistic, by some ways of thinking, but it's nonetheless how Ylva sees things. "Humans put so much importance in looks. Looks are useful but they're not who you are. I could change on the outside and still be me."
no subject
That— actually does help a little bit. Ylva is still Ylva when she's in her wolf shape, or in her dinosaur shape. It's what's inside that counts, really. Your actual soul. That may have been Maeve's body but it wasn't her.
Even if killing her face still feels wrong... "R-Right. You're right. I've even fought people who use illusions before. It's... it's almost like that. S-Sort of."
no subject
She could debate that, but it doesn't actually seem like the sort of thing she wants to debate. She doesn't want to prove Ruby wrong, if that's what she wants to decide.
"Look, I... I don't know what happens when the possessed people come back. And I don't know Maeve. But do you think she'd be angry?"
no subject
"I-I don't— I don't think so?" Her body was being used to hurt people. Might have been used to hurt me if I didn't... didn't... a-and if it gets her back, it's worth it. It has to be."
But they just don't know until... the morning? Three days time? If they even all survive the rest of the night.
no subject
Ylva keeps her arm around Ruby, though she takes a moment to lift her head and look around, making sure the pair of them are safe where they are, in the midst of, well, everything.
no subject
Ruby doesn't lift her head at all. She should, she should be more alert of their surroundings than this, but she's not exactly in fight mode anymore.
Of course, they should be fine, despite the chaos. Except for the fact the floor is doomed to go...
