1 / it's all right now (the drunken sailor)

[ Before the party, Vance was gifted with the mangled remains of Fio's teddy bear, Judith. One of the ghosts did it, and he feels kind of silly doing something so sentimental for a teddy bear, but he knows it's because the ghost was avenging him for Judith's previous attack. So, in a way, he feels responsible.

He chose The Drunken Sailor because it's where Knife Club is held, and also because he thinks Fio is unlikely to wander in and see Judith before it's all fixed up. There's some threads in all different colors set out and everyone is encouraged to take a different one and fix the bear a little bit at a time. That way, Fio will know how many different people all came together for her.

Vance is sitting at the table with a bit of read thread, starting to sew the arm back on. He isn't very good at it, but this is a group effort anyway. ]

[ ooc note: If they know Vance, assume your character got a text and was invited. If they don't know Vance and you want to participate, feel free to handwave that someone invited them. ]

2 / but don't give yourself away

[ Sometime after fixing Judith, Vance can be found all around the ship. He's not as devastated as he was in the aftermath of the party, but he's not entirely back to normal, either. He's...somewhere in between.

If someone saw him take down not-Friday, he's willing to talk about it. He also wants to catch up with anyone he knows who was possessed and isn't anymore.

Once in a while, too, he lifts up the corner of his white tank top and (for the first time since he's been here) takes an actual look at the knife-wound scars that were left behind. He's hated those scars since the first time he saw them and has done whatever it takes to keep them covered. After seeing Judith - all full of stitches but still wanted and still okay - he thinks, finally, that they might not be so hideous after all. ]

3 / it's only teenage wasteland (closed to clarke)

[ As much as he tries to play the tough guy, the last month weighed on him something fierce and he feels like he's about to burst if he doesn't get some of his feelings out into the world. Clarke's been trying to nudge him into sharing a little ever since they went to beach, so he just lets it slip. ]

I lied. I am scared. Of a lot of things. [ About ending up like the ghosts here and being sent to the Nothing, yes, but also of the monsters from his past even if they aren't here anymore. ]

[ Of course Eddie shows up. He's had some practice with sewing with a needle and thread. Although he doesn't have his vest with him, the evidence would have been there, between the Dio t-shirt sewn onto the back, and the various patches sewn all over the front.

And as much as he tries to present himself as this tough guy, so that people at school are less likely to fuck with him, he has a soft spot for kids, especially for outcasts. He's all too happy to help. ]

Here, try to keep your stitches tighter, it'll keep the stuffing from falling out. [ He carefully starts to thread a needle, his tongue sticking out the corner of his mouth as he keeps missing the eye with every attempt. ] Jesus H. Christ this is my least favorite part of this shit.

[ Vance watches carefully as Eddie tries to thread the needle. He wasn't good at that part either; that sort of finesse isn't his forte. ]

D'you sew a lot?

[ For some people, something as simple as trying to hold a conversation while threading a needle might have been impossible. For Eddie, it's actually helpful, and keeps him from getting frustrated. Somehow it helps him focus more, and success!, the needle is threaded. ]

Nothing all that complicated, but. I sewed the patches on my battle vest. Which, sadly, did not make it here with me, may it rest in peace back in Hawkins. [ Of course, he had given it to Harrington, who had promised to give it back to him after everything was over. Well, clearly that wasn't happening now. ]

You had a battle vest, too? Fucking awesome.

[ He taps the shoulder patches (a spade on one shoulder and a club on the other) on his own vest. ]

My friend sewed these for me. I've been wanting more, but nothing you can get here.

Sure did. Harrington can tell you all about it, I gave it to him to hold onto.

[ For his modesty, he said. Anyone who knows anything about battle vests, of course, knows how big of a deal it is to part with it like that. ]

Not bad to start off with. [ He frowns, at the thought of not being able to put together a new vest. ] Maybe we'll get lucky. If things do sometimes get sent here from home, maybe I'll get my guitar and you'll get some more patches to add to that, I'd even help you sew 'em on.

Yeah? That'd be sick.

[ He can only hope that something like that will come in for him. All he's gotten so far is a flower crown, which he's working up the courage to wear because Omori said it would look good. ]

You play guitar? I always wanted to play something, but my old man would lose his shit if I brought home anything that loud.

[thefreak]

It really fucking would.

[ He didn't think he'd miss home. But then again, it's not even home that he's missing, but particular things, and people. People he would never want to see show up here, but would be comforted knowing that they're okay. ]

Yeah, I do! I was in a band back home. [ He pauses as he considers their situations. ] Your old man's not here, so. I guess if you still wanted to play something, now's your chance, yeah?

I guess you're right, though it's not like the captain's just gonna drop a guitar in my lap.

[ But Friday is, unbeknownst to him. And the captain gave him a piano; not that he wants it all that badly. ]

Yeah, tell me about it. With my luck, I'd be gifted a bunch of pop cassettes that'll make me wish I were deaf before I get a guitar.
