Everyone at some point will get an invite to the theater, either pressed into their hand or shoved under their door. The stage is set with black curtains hanging in the background and on each seat there will be a little gift basket with a black ribbon, a name, a candy bar and a black pen with a little spiral notebook.

In each notebook, Stede has written a little note of encouragement. He will wait for them all to find their seats before he begins.

[ Darcy procures the knife from her pocket, popping the blade out with a flick of her wrist. Oh yeah, it's pretty cool in an edgy militaristic survivalist kind of way. ]

I answer every question honestly. [which is like. 99% true. SIGHS.] I suppose the likely, and completely honest, "I don't knows" will not earn me many cool knife points.

[ Darcy flicks the blade closed and very visibly telegraphs going to put it in her pocket. Come on, you want it boy? Throw them a bone. ]

[ Darcy raises an eyebrow in Clarke's direction. She set him up, time for her to knock him down. ]

( wow, damn. remind clarke to take darcy into every future battle she ever wages, at least against this specific sociopath. but never one to ignore a good set up, nor look the gift horse of forced honesty in the mouth — )

What's your endgame here?

( end of the day, much like jinx, clarke doesn't know what the hell that means off the top of her head.

but. unlike jinx. she's spent long enough at her mother's elbow, knee deep in medical books to obtain a passing sort of understanding of latin. and get past the greek implications, latin's always a good language to lean on. )

( her breath catches in her throat, and against every instinct yelling to maintain eye contact, clarke looks up to catch darcy's eyes. what did she just hear? )

So where do we factor into your quest for ascension? I don't know of any gods who got their disciples by kidnapping them and making them fight to the death.

[ Darcy pulls the knife out to waggle it in place. His goal of apotheosis was of course a fool's errand, and for some reason it... relaxes her a little, that his efforts would ultimately be futile. She ignores his jab, asking- ]

What is it exactly you're learning from us, ehn?

[rolls eyes] I'm just using you; there's nothing to be learned from you.

Not even if one of us knows how to become a god already?

( clarke very carefully sculpts her face to be impassive for the span of a few seconds, then leans back in her chair and clicks her tongue. she's looking at darcy again, and giving an unenthused shrug of her shoulders. )

Does any of that ring true to you?

[ Either Clarke knows something she doesn't, or is bluffing, and either way her job right now is to back her up regardless of anything. So Darcy tucks her next question away and shrugs back, no visible surprise or even interest on her face. She'll let Clarke take the lead, and try and pitch in when she has a better idea of the angle she's working. ]

If you're implying what I think you are... Trust me when I say that involving yourself in the Teyvat gods is... not the healthiest life choice one can make. That has never been a viable contender.

Besides, I don't want to be a god in just one reality. Anyone can do that. That's boring.
