It’s The End of the World as We Know It
Who: Tiamat(Valdis), Clarke, The Captain and Skulduggery
What: The Beginning of the End Part 2
When: February
Where: The Bridge at Dawn
Warnings: Potential violence
After all that, waiting until dawn seems like little consequence. But wait she does, though she can’t help but send a little taunt to a particular party before making her way up to the bridge. The sun rises just over the edge of the water, the stars beginning to fade from view. She can sense Clarke not far behind, and the Skeleton must be here somewhere, though maybe they will get lucky and he’s elsewhere. Tiamat leans against the railing to look out over the realm a scared little child created, musing over the various outcomes of what is about to happen. Even if the Captain knows who she is, he’d entertained her before, there’s no reason to suspect he won’t now.
“Oh, Captain,” she says, still watching the sun come up. “Care to watch the sunrise with me?”

She's left sitting bolt upright in bed, staring at Natsuno and wondering what the hell just happened when her phone buzzes. She has half a mind to ignore it, because who the hell is it at a time like this--oh, Clarke. Wait.]
What the hell do you mean it's done?!
[No, screaming at the phone isn't going to transmit the message to Clarke, but she does it anyway. They were supposed to--know what would happen and when and how is it already done?!]
no subject
Natsuno's phone buzzes at the same time as Rita's. He doesn't bother looking at it, because Rita spells it out loud and clear. Natsuno agrees with the sentiment, but like with any emergency, he immediately shuts down in favor of brutal pragmatism. He hurries to the window without another word, because done means the barrier can be broken.]
There's another ship. They're coming.
[He doesn't linger to stare at it, instead moving towards the door.]
no subject
[Ugh. Natsuno moves and Rita follows. Another ship. Great, they need to get ready in a hurry now.]
I need to change into something--just gimme a sec--ohh, some damn warning would've been nice!
no subject
[A head's up is apparently too much to expect. He should've known, and being frustrated won't help now. It's done and they need to find her.]
Are you seriously going to pick an outfit -
Never mind. Just make it quick, I'm getting the flamethrower.
[And off he runs back to 109 to grab his emotional support weapon. If Steve happens to be in 109, he's getting a:]
Barrier's down.
[Before Natsuno heads back out.]
no subject
[A little huffed reply as she's already tugging off whatever she's wearing, giving Natsuno a little wave, because she knows they need to hurry.
And she'll be quick as she can, pulling on her boots by the time he returns.]
Where is she--the bridge?

[And as they are moving:]
What's with the outfit.
no subject
[He's silent, and she thinks he's waiting while she finishes grabbing what she needs--a magic tome and a whip, both her weapons of choice--before grabbing the gloves in one hand to tug them on as they start making for the end of the corridor.]
Huh? The outfit? Well, there's a chance we might have to fight, right?
no subject
And it helps you fight... how.
no subject
It's easy to move around in, has plenty of airflow, and it has resistance to magic, too.
[Those are all equally important right.]

Anyway though, speaking of potential impending battles. A fair way down the hall, among the many passengers stirring...the door to cabin 133 is opening, and Jade just so happens to be stepping out around the same time Rita and Natsuno emerge, fully dressed himself and--seemingly unarmed, though looks always can be deceiving things. (His spear is still stowed in his right arm as always, and the strange light-magic gun the Erda had imparted upon him some time ago will still materialize in his left hand at his discretion. Both still dismissed for now, but at a moment's notice...) Between the light and brief and utterly disconcerting tug on his soul, the equally strange sensation of
orangesorgans shifting ever so slightly, and the fact that he's quite a light sleeper as a general rule--it hadn't taken much to rouse Jade from bed, even if the port position of his cabin isn't immediately privy to the new ship approaching in the distance...Even without that, though, there's plenty to be uneasy about. The earlier sensations were not, great. And he's not alone either, to judge by the doors now opening up and down the hall, voices in varying levels of concern following alongside the passengers stepping out--
Ah, there, a further ways off. Jade's steps are brisk.]
Yuuki? Rita! Good, you're both already awake. I suspect something has just...
[Wait. ...Well. Yes, that's Natsuno, already armed with the familiar shape of the flamethrower...and that also must be Rita beside him, to judge by her stature and hair. But as Jade draws towards them, the slight frown settling upon his features actually isn't only about the sense of Impending Happenings, at least for just a moment here. Since, uh...]
...Rita, what are you wearing?
no subject
Anyway, Rita turns, unsurprised to see him springing to action--if anything, there's some relief, because no matter what happens going forward, they'll be relying on his assistance, whether it's-
Wait, what's with his expression--he's questioning her too?! Her response had been casual enough to Natsuno, but between already explaining to him and the incredulous way Jade demands an answer, suddenly the metaphorical hackles go up.]
Seriously?! Don't you know magic armour when you see some?!
[Like yes Clarke may be in dire need of assistance, but maybe she needs to defend her fashion choices first???]
no subject
Ugh. Focus.]
There's a ship coming our way.
[Unlike Rita, he does feel the dread, because he knows Jade would very much not like what they have to say. Knows that on top of the anger for being kept in the dark (the very same hypocricy Natsuno once accused him of), on top of any objections to what was done, Jade is friends with the passengers who will be hurt the most.
But Natsuno doesn't shy away. When you choose a side, you must be willing to face the consequences.]
Clarke neutralized the captain.
1/2
Huh. Well then.]
...Not any magic armor by that sort of design, no. But I suppose it does seem quite reinforced after all...
[Are all the magic armories in Terca Lumireis terrible at fashion or is this just a special case, he wonders--]
2/2
Neutralized him. [Echoed, but not with surprise. Which perhaps makes the flatness of it a bit worse. ...Jade pauses, and then sighs. Takes a moment to adjust his glasses, and emerges from the gesture with an unreadable expression on his face.] ...So she had a plan after all, did she? I see.
Are you two still sworn to secrecy, then, or will I be able to gain the privilege of learning what's actually going on now? --How many others knew about this, for that matter? [He casts a look down the hall, rather wishing there were any portholes nearby with a view of the sea in the direction of an apparent new approaching ship--] I suppose I must assume that arrival out there is a response to the beacon after all...
no subject
But. Ugh. Outfit logics and justifications are pretty quickly forgotten as they get down to the situation at hand, and...Rita grimaces. Jade's pissed--for good reason, but that doesn't make the salty comment any less uncomfortable.
And after Clarke said she'd explain to Jade once all was said and done! What a pain... Well...she crosses her arms and tries to sum it up...]
Ugh--alright, we get it, it was... The response was a letter with a red string. It said putting the string around the captain's neck would subdue him.
[There was more to the letter, of course, which was so suspicious they originally shunned the idea. But they don't exactly have time, do they?]
Look--I know--you've got reason to be angry, but we weren't expecting anything to happen yet either, so--can we talk about it later? We need to meet up with Clarke and find out what the hell she's doing.
no subject
...or maybe they can't. Then again, nothing will matter anyway if they can't.]
Tayrey told Clarke about it, and Clarke took the string after she disappeared. A few other people know about the string. I don't think they knew Clarke had it, but they'll realize it's been used soon - if they haven't already.
no subject
[For all the good such context does them, happening as suddenly as this is for--apparently--just about everyone. Jade's frown only deepens at Rita's request to talk about this later, his displeasure clearly not at all abated by the proposal--he's rather of the same mind as Natsuno already, that there may well not be a proper "later" to use...
Yet still, the mention of Clarke likely being at the bridge delays further sharp words on the matter. It actually is just a bit surprising, that Clarke never specified when she'd be making an attempt with the thread even to Natsuno or Rita, but that also means--]
It sounds as if Clarke has decided to confront the Captain entirely on her own. --A remarkably foolish decision. Even setting aside the Captain himself, I'd be surprised if he weren't also being currently flanked by those in sympathy with him, ever since the wake of that rocket... [Skulduggery promptly comes to mind, for a fact--a formidable magician in his own right. What was she thinking? Well, alright, maybe there was still a little more sharpness to be had after all...but then Jade shakes his head, and properly moves on to something more brusque.] Very well, I'm coming with you. You two could find quite literally anything at the bridge, right now--and we can only hope that won't include Clarke's corpse, even if it seems likely she did succeed in some fashion.
no subject
Foolish is putting it mildly! What the hell is she thinking, going ahead and just--argh!
[She stomps an angry foot, but she knows yelling about it here isn't going to get them any answers, and--Jade mentioning the chilling possibility of Clarke's corpse is morbid, yet also injects more urgency into their need to meet up. You know, in case it wasn't urgent enough already.]
Let's just get going already!
no subject
says steve.
why can't things ever happen at a reasonable hour? at first he barely processes what natsuno says but as the words do sink in he clambers out of bed and towards the door, yelling, )
Barrier- what? Hey— wait a minute! Hey!
( but it's too late. natsuno is gone.
steve heaves a sigh and begins to change clothes so he can head out and see what the hell is going on for himself. )
