Who: John Watson, Johnny Summer, and César Salazar with Rich Goranski, Fio, and Honoria Crabb AND YOU Oh god why are weddings like this
What: The throuple getting married by... the Captain?!
When: December 11th at 7pm
Where: John's
Warnings: I believe in us! But for now, nothing.
SEATING
John's has been transformed, the seating up front rearranged in rows towards the center dias with an aisle down the middle, the piano moved off to one side. The buffet for later can be seen off to the other. Decorations taken from Spirit Halloween appear here and there–flowers taken from cavalera flower crowns, sun and moon candlestick holders from the tarot collection, festively colored tablecloths draped down the walls like curtains or banners. A sign near the entrance says "seat yourself", although the front row on one side is reserved with a ribbon across the backs.
What can't be seen is who is officiating. Or the husbands, but at least that part makes sense. The dais is empty.
THE CEREMONY
As one of the few traditions in this wedding, music announces the start of the ceremony. Rich strolls in first, trying to look professional even if he’s clearly shaking a bit as he holds the small pillow with the rings laid on it. At least he’s dressed quite smartly, Johnny ensuring his red suit is wrinkle free and his cuff links are set in place. Fio, in a winged black dress and flowery headdress, follows after the ring bearer, adorning the path with paper petals as she moves along.
The first husband to be down the aisle is none other than Johnny, in a smart charcoal grey suit with a goldenrod pocketsquare, gold jewelry, and a wreath of orange blossoms on his head; and accompanied by Honoria Crabb in her perfectly tailored black tuxedo, worn with black gloves and a white bow tie. Watson and César take up the rear, arms linked together. César is wearing an equally fancy suitcoat with his tie held in place with a ruby and silver tie pin, and Watson is wearing an officer’s dress uniform, with the sword and without the helmet, and also his good cane. All three husbands-to-be are wearing green carnation boutonnières.
AFTER PARTY
It's time to eat, dance, and party!
The seating has been rearranged for sitting at tables around the "dance" floor. Food from Windjammer has been placed on some tables for a buffet. There’s a selection of fancy cheeses and crackers, sushi, premade sandwiches, and salad with dressings on the side. For dessert, to one side there’s a table with cupcakes, cookies, and chocolates arranged in a heart. On the bar are a couple bowls of punch (including one explicitly labeled as non-alcoholic) made by Johnny ahead of time, because he's been forbidden to bartend his own wedding, much to his deep chagrin.
There’s a space set just off the dancefloor for musicians who wish to perform, the usual John’s piano (bribed into behaving with a whole pan of beef brisket from the buffet) off to one side.

They nearly ask, but waffle about staying on-topic, and then just file that away in case they have to be responsible for this kid in the future.
"That seems a little self-centered." April says, though her voice is absent of judgement. "You're what, 11? And you're new, and there's a decent crowd, why would you stand out enough to bother them?"
no subject
"I'm 12. I ran into the three of them a while ago. Things didn't go too well..." That's an understatement, but can he even admit how far he actually went?
no subject
The eyebrows - both of them, of course, which April has - arch in understanding this time as April gets that this isn't just run-of-the-mill weird anxiety.
"Ah, that makes a little more sense." April says, nodding.
She looks at the wedding, tilts her head, and as time passes she crosses her arms.
"Tell you what, you could probably get away with sneaking into the reception." April suggests. "I mean, you could also get away with sitting in one of the back rows for the ceremony itself, you're short enough, but I tell you: you're not missing anything by waiting out here until the cake is served."
April's photographed weddings before, she knows what she's talking about.
no subject
"Maybe... I only saw one wedding ceremony, and it was really short. Kinda gross, too." People kissing isn't his thing.
"How long do you think this one's going to be?"
no subject
"I couldn't tell you even if I knew for sure they were from my world." April says. "Weddings are both steeped in tradition and made up as they go along, especially here I imagine."
Still, she tips her head back and thinks about it, doing some unknown calculation in her head.
"Alright, I don't know when everyone's sitting down, but I'll say ten minutes to get the wedding party in, five or ten minutes for whatever formalities need to be said, then depending on how romantic the happy throuple are, that's fifteen to twenty minutes for vows, then maybe another six or so minutes for follow up, give or take another twentyish minutes for pacing during the non-speaking parts, walking and stuff like that."
April shrugs at the end of that. "Honestly, I'm just going to zone out until I hear the chairs move, 'cause that's people heading to the reception."
Yes, zoning out while taking notes for Ossie, they've taken minutes at meetings before, they know what they're doing.
no subject
"So you're saying... I should come back in an hour, right? Or maybe I can just hide here until then." He doesn't really want to see a lot of the romance, but a part of him is very curious after his conversations with them about how serious they were in regards to the matter. He wants to see... if they're really in love, maybe it'll be something more than just gross.

..............
April looks over their shoulder one way, then the other (which is pretty much looking into the venue).
And with the coast clear - not that anyone's noticing April without effort anyway - April starts going through their purse.
"Tell you what," April says, "Do you like cell phone games? Or are you more of a cards kid?"
no subject
"I like all kinds of games. I used to play cards with my friends. You can play games on a cell phone?"
no subject
April draws out their smartphone, unlocks it, opens up the game center and hands it over to the kid. Hey, it's not like any of their contact information works, they'll have mostly have an eye on him, and the games these days are designed to keep short attention spans occupied, and best of all, no service on the ship means no ads! April's impeccable tastes means no waiting for extra lives or whatever, either, so this ought to help time fly before the reception.
Sure enough, April has Solitaire on their phone, as well as Hearts, a wordscramble game where you drag lines through a jumble of letter-shaped cookies to make words out of them, a colour-matching dots game, and 2048. More than enough to keep someone's attention for an entire ceremony, or a monthly meeting.
no subject
At least it gives him +10 defense!"I like word games a lot though. And cards. Sometimes I'd play blackjack on the computer..."And then he's being handed a far more modern phone, and almost immediately, he's entranced by pretty colours and flashy animations. "Woah..." For a second, he looks bewildered about how to ever start, before he taps the 'Play' button on the word scramble, and gasps. "The screen is the controller!"
no subject
"Yeah, sure is! You can drag your finger around to scroll or trace the words, and - look, here's the tutorial level, you'll figure it out." April says, and guides the weird kid to the first levels of the game, and from there he should be good to go, so April gets back to leaning against the doorway and keeping one eye on the kid and one on the wedding.
no subject
Once the ceremony is done, though, he does sit back up, holding out the phone. "Um, thank you. That was really fun. What's your name?"
no subject
Maybe it is, what are you, a cop?
"You can call me April." April says pleasantly. "Glad the games helped."
no subject
"Nice to meet you, April. I'm Omori." He hopes it's safe for him to mention that name. "I liked them. I always like games, but I never got to play them like that."
