[you've heard the announcement, the sound of Friday's cautious optimism as she spoke it. you've waited all day. now, it's time for the game.

the amount of effort that has gone into this production at Bellona can be safely defined as “minimal.” there are three podiums, with three slate boards and three pieces of chalk. there is another podium, currently empty, next to a plain folding table. there is a tablecloth draped over the table, covering a lumpy, inscrutable shape.

the most remarkable thing is the giant wheel set up on the other side of the empty podium. the slices of the giant circle are colorful, but also completely blank. the Captain actually spends 30 minutes prior to the start of the event simply sitting in front of it, back to the audience, and spinning it, listening to the loud clacking noise pick up and then die down again, before spinning it once more.

clackclackclack clack clack. clack. clackclackclackclackclack.

it's gonna be a long night.]

[Ari's not troubled by that remark. Far better to overestimate someone's physical capabilities than insult them by underestimating. She peers curiously at the two little discs, but doesn't yet venture a guess about what they might be, or what they might do.

Instead, she waits patiently for Ava to decide on a color.]

Hmm... [shrugs and guesses red because who understands how Pym's mind works, flinging the little disc at the heavy chunk of overpriced crystal and shrinking it down to... an inch.] There you go. [Vanna White pose.]

[astrogator]

[Ari's just staring, because that's an amazing bit of technology and she wants to know exactly how it works, but also, more importantly:]

Does the blue one make it big again?

[decohere]

... yes. [pockets the blue disc and vanishes]

[astrogator]

[Ari's face falls. Really? Offering assistance only to trick her like that?

That's what she gets for asking strangers for help. Let's not do that again.

She picks up the now tiny crystal and squeezes it in her hand. Turns around, with another bright smile for the audience, pretend it was all planned - but this one doesn't reach her eyes. Then she's on her way back to her seat.]

[aw no, just track her down later!]

[It was the vanishing! People don't vanish unless they're up to no good...

It's alright. Ari has a plan.]
