Who: Okie, close cr, and you
What: Birthday stuff and copying Ruby's homework
When: February 6th

1. Today is a gift

Okie is nineteen years old today. It's the first time it really hits him that he's been here over a year. And this time, he doesn't feel like hiding it.

Every crafts corner poster gains a sticky note, right at the bottom. Host birthday edition, today the 6th

2. That's why it's called the present [Closed]

Ever since he was given the emblem Ruby made for him, Okie's had the concept of reverse birthday presents in his mind. He's worked in secret in the days since the Village on his own iteration, making sure his work is worth giving. On the big day, he sends texts out to the Starrs, Dimitri, Cassandra, Ruby, Darcy, and Erin.

Who: Okie and you
What: Striving for normalcy
When: Turn of the new year and on
Where: Tommy Bahama, the pool, and around

1. Make Right

A week after everyone's return from the excursion, simple hand-made signs appear around the ship. By the buffet, the gym, the Promenade. They all say the same thing.

Fellow brainwashing victims, if you need to talk, feel free to find me.

Followed by a number friends might recognize as Okie's.

2. Make Happy

Okie spends about a day a week almost entirely in the Tommy Bahama, foraging for shirts to scrap, finding some quiet corner to work on projects he wants to keep just a little bit private. He mainly sticks to the shallows, near enough the entrance, and stops himself from wandering farther than five hours in.

He'll do his best to hide his projects if you catch him in the act, but you might catch a glimpse of... are those doll clothes?

3. Make Peace

He sits at the edge of the pool, and looks in. He thought his stay in Arcadia would be a stain on him forever, that he'd wear the Storm like a scar forever, until the people who love him here showed him how much more his sky could be. But in his reflection, against cool calm gray, a small patch of nightmare-come-true sits behind his eye. He looks up whenever he hears someone approach.

"It stand out much?"

4. Make War (post Ari announcement)

The prison wall has been breached, says the loudspeakers. What Okie hears is that there's a hole in the castle wall, and that Lieutenant Tayrey just send word far and wide. Nothing and nowhere is safe. If the things he's scared of find this place, nobody here could help him.

He goes to the sports deck, and he screams.

What: Flower shenanigans mostly
When: Mid month-ish

1. This Is How You Remind Me

Okie had a hunch that the plants were trouble when they started spreading out from the bridge. He decided they were to be avoided, given a wide berth, ignored as much as possible. But then he sees it. A patch of pink, a patch of home, poking out from the wall of the gym. He feels the homesickness long before the flowers implant it in him. He sits across the room, hands in the pockets of his jacket, staring at it.

When he hears someone coming, he'll say, "It's gonna kill me. I'm sure of it."

2. It's Not Like You To Say Sorry

It keeps getting harder to avoid them, and for Okie's money each flower is worse than the last. This time he's stood stock still in front of the memorial, face wet with tears. His Mask is on, his clouds hidden.

Someone else, not a passenger, stands behind him. There's a family resemblance to him, built from common parts, dressed in similar style. He's a touch younger than Okie, by his looks, but the dozens of tiny scars littering his face make it harder to tell. Not but two or three people on the Serena Eterna would recognize him. Earl Hitchcock. He's the first to speak to any passersby.

"Howdy! Ask 'im who put these cuts on my face. He'd be more'n happy to answer, won't ya, Cal?"

3. I Was Waiting On A Different Story

As a Lost on the lam, there is one thing he fears above all else, one nightmare he'll never escape. And it's here, he's sure of it. He's not crazy, he can't be. All these plants, springing from bare metal, they're not natural. They're an incursion by the Hedge. The Good Neighbors are here to take him at last. He can't just lie down and accept it. He has to do something. That's why he's brought one of the axes he swiped from the last excursion to the buffet, and is currently taking it liberally to every flower in reach.

About midway through June, posters begin going up around the ship. They’re crude, clearly Friday-made creations, with cute little drawings and bubble letters. They all say basically the same thing:
SENIOR PROM
fun under the sea

JUNE 20
7PM TO 1AM
MAIN DINING ROOM

CRUISE FORMAL
NO ALCOHOL
ANNOUNCEMENT AT MIDNIGHT

When you arrive at the dining room at the appointed time, there is an arch of blue and white balloons in front of the door. As you pass through, you’re immediately greeted by the familiar icepick headache that always follows sojourns into other dimensions. The reason is immediately obvious: instead of the expected dining room, you are very much in what appears to be a school gym. A sizable one, with a DJ booth and a small stage, but you can still see the basketball hoops, for all that they’re covered in balloons. A lot of balloons. An honestly inadvisable amount of balloons.

There is a large dance floor in the middle of the room, under a spinning disco ball. Round tables of about four or five folding chairs each surround it; behind them, one can find the punch bowl, and a small buffet table of mostly finger foods (also a chocolate fountain, natch). the DJ booth isn’t manned, but it could be; it’ll play anyway, mostly 80s songs.

There are two gaudy thrones on the stage: one has a crown, the other a tiara, as well as sashes proclaiming the wearers to be prom king and queen. Behind the stage, a string is attached to the bucket of pig’s blood directly above the thrones, if you decide to be the funniest person to ever live.

There is a microphone stand on the stage. It doesn’t seem to be on.

What: Do you believe in life after labyrinth?
When: Nebulously May
Where: Playback and the lounge

1. Every Time I Raise My Voice Inside I Feel So Tired

Everyone got stuck in a locked room surrounded by their own heads and the heads of people they know. That sucked. A lot of people were forced from the locked room to go slog through a bunch of murder puzzles. Also sucked. Okie finished the murder puzzles for everyone! That was kinda cool. The person behind the labyrinth was a kid and that made Okie yell at Vance. Not also cool.

He’s exhausted. He’s been exhausted, constantly. It’s all he can do most of this month to leave his room for anything more than food. When he does, it’s generally to change out books from the library and take them to the lounge or the arcade to read and fall asleep to. While he still tries to keep his Mask off most of the time to be his full self, he spends some days with it on, just to grab a little less attention as he moves through the ship. The clouds haven’t parted, and the air around feels heavy, and humid.

[it happens in less than the blink of an eye.

April 10th. 10:47 AM. no matter where they were, no matter what they were doing, most passengers previously aboard the Serena Eterna find themselves in an empty room. not a very large room, but not a very small one, either. stone floors. stone ceiling. mostly stone walls. whatever they were wearing before, they aren’t wearing it now; all of them are now in one of two outfits, with no real seeming rhyme or reason as to who gets what. there is a large wooden door in the center of one wall, locked with a heavy drawbar. there is an LED display above it, like you would see at a sports arena; it’s currently turned off.

and then there are the heads.

the walls are mostly stone. mostly, because seeming every square inch of every wall has a head sticking out of it. human, animal, mixes of both and neither. passengers may recognize friends, or family. fellow passengers, specifically the dead (and anyone living that opted out). themselves, if they’ve ever died during the voyage. every head ends just at the top of the neck, and every one has their eyes wide open, expressions glassy and unseeing, but entirely neutral. just staring forward.

the display flickers to life, displaying the following information:]

NEXT: DAISY TONNER

64 LIVES
